Another flip...
Only Gope “arguments” are “it’s chaos”, “it’s embarrassing”, neither of which are true and even if true are not good arguments.
The other is “fodder for democrats” which is naïve and specious as well as a bad argument.
Democrats and Ministry of Truth media make up “fodder” if there’s no actual “fodder” and use anything as “fodder”. Acting to avoid criticism from people who hate you and want to destroy you is ludicrous.
Yes, but it’s curious...
It is on “paper”... as soon as he is sworn in the “Gang” of 20 will be out of power for their terms...
No others nominated to this point.
Republicans are allowed to win some elections to give the appearance of a two party system.
It’s always been placeholders as no MAGA supporters have the spine to directly oppose McCarthy..
A pretty good outcome. I never thought we would get a conservative speaker once Jim Jordan dropped out. Concessions in writing is a win.
If there was any leadership in the GOP at all they’d have had all this sorted before the first vote. All the backroom stuff to get a candidate to get the votes. The fact that they’re basically at “well what if he promises to never wear a bowtie?” supposed deal making should embarrass all of them.
they still get to vote and without them no legislation gets passed.
What do you think will come of any of that?
In my lifetime I haven’t seen any House or Senate hearings
amount to a hill of beans.
The House on its own can’t introduce legislation that will
get past the Senate anyway.
If McCarthy is installed, just how reasoned will the
committee members be? He’ll allow the Left to fill them
with die-hard agitators. If the Right proved it was
dark at midnight, the Left would claim it wasn’t with
expert testimony.
the leadership in the GOP IS McCarthy and his ilk. They told the gang of 20 to FO. They’ve been negotiating since the summer apparently and McCarthy stonewalled them basically daring them to vote no.
Then that ain’t leadership. Which is my point.
May be I misconstrued your post #41.
I suppose McCarthy could turn his back on the entire written agreement but I doubt he will, given the narrowness of his margin and the toughness of this battle. I have to put some trust in Chip Roy, Jim Jordan and MT Greene - I would certainly rather do so than trust in Ro Khanna and his “unity” candidate for Speaker who will undoubtedly be the result if this continues to drag on with the few holdouts offering no real alternative candidate.
So he peeled off some opponents. No spines there.
With 5/6 patriots remaining, combined with ‘Rats withdrawing from quorum, I expect McC gets it now on the 13th
If McCarthy finally gets in it is so tarnished the Left will spend years of family fun ridiculing the GOP for it.
McCarthy: “Whew. I made it as Speaker.”
GOP House member: “We were with you all the way, pal.”
Looks like it’s going to land at 6 this round...
