* House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy failed in a third vote to secure enough votes to be elected Speaker, throwing the party into into uncertainty.
* After the first ballot resulted in votes for several Republicans, the latest round saw McCarthy’s opponents coalesce around a new contender: Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, a longtime McCarthy ally.
* It is the first time in 100 years that the majority party has failed to coalesce around a candidate for Speaker, and it was uncertain what McCarthy’s next steps would be.

The job is herding cats. McCarthy demonstrated he is unfit for the job. Maybe a 4th time?

I’ve been on free republic for a very long, long time and I’m getting a little sick of the ad hominem attacks. I’m not an idiot and I don’t expect to be called an idiot on this forum. I’m allowed to voice my opinion and if you don’t like it criticize it with some thought otherwise keep your mouth shut.

If I go Mormon, maybe I can add AOC to my dance card.
A trifecta of lost women that I can maybe convert.
Liz Cheney is not in contention however. I will leave her for Laz to hit on.

“ Not true. If those 19 change to present, jefferies is speaker! Gaetz said he might do this.”
Who would you rather have? Jeffries or Gaetz’ nominee?
I assume the latter.
Solution: Republicans choose Gaetz’ nominee.
Simple.

I think that this is great.
Stop these Crooks from stealing more money for a year. Of course the Rats will have none of this. They will permit the Show to go on for a while longer, use the details to mock the ‘disorganized’ GOP until the next meaningless elections.

Hey RINOs, how does it feel when your own party doesn't fall in line and support you? Now you know how MAGA candidates in 2022 felt.

You are the one who called someone an idiot.
I think that opens up the rhetorical boundaries.
Why can you call people idiots but others can’t call someone an idiot?

Yes. You made the case that Jeffries could win under a certain scenario.
Focus on the question.
Do you want Jeffries or Gaetz’ nominee.

The bright side of 2 years of voting for Speaker is they won’t be able to pass harmful legislation, so there is that.

In a couple of rounds, we run the serious risk of a game changing deck of cards being dealt, a lightening fast vote and the morons driving this idiocy staring at their shoes in shock and wondering WTF just happened.

What a bunch of idiots. They are an embarrassment. We will end up with a democrat speaker. If that happens it is mcCarthy’s fault for not giving up when he should have.
