But its forces are side by side with the Baltics who are NATO members. If NATO attacks Serbia all bets are off. WWI stated because of Alliances. Well while Russia is a country, NATO is an alliance and the flipside of the NATO warning is true. An attack by one is an attack by all.

The Russians are fully engaged in Ukraine. What forces would they send against the Baltic states? If the Russians have to send untrained “Mobiks” to Ukraine, they don’t have anything they could spare for the Baltic states.

Maybe Russia can move though Hungary? The key to Victory is Oil. Shut off the Oil to Europe by closing the Suez Canal, Sink a tanker in the narrowest part? Have Iran close things down? A few spies, well trained (like Russia Has). Cause an “Accident” in a few refineries? Blow up a pipeline or two? Fancy Tanks don’t run on coal.
So the Russians could not respond to a NATO move on Serbia by moving on a vulnerable NATO member. I suppose you would have seen no reason to enter North Africa in ‘42 as it was far from the actual target of Allied strategy. Yet 200k+ Wehrmacht troops were lost that could have played a role elsewhere.
The potential of an attack on a Baltic state could cause NATO to hold off a move on Bosnia.
Those dirty stinking Russians will find a way. We must destroy the world to save it.

Technically, Hungary is in NATO, but they’re getting as sick of NATO and the Globalists, very much like Turkey is, in the same boat (made the mistake of joining NATO). NATO has no interest in “moving on Bosnia”. Again, please consult a map. Kosovo was a province of Serbia. Bosnia-Hercegovina was a constituent republic of former Yugoslavia. Russia has no interest in moving on the Baltics. You seem very geographically and geopolitically confused.

I wouldn’t get too worked up over it just yet. This started out as just another license plate dust up. Those have been going on for over a decade now. (License plates can get folks all riled up in former Yugoslavia, not just Serbs, but all the various peoples of former Y.)
Then another policeman tiff added to the brouhaha. Even taken together, it all would have died down again as usual, but then Kurti had to go and make a List. (You know how commies and Nazis make Lists.) Well, Lists are serious business in former Y. All sides did it during the 1990s conflicts, Croats, Muslims, Serbs, etc. They all did it.
The Serbs still have their noses out of joint about NATO failure to implement UNSC Res 1244, so they are trying to make a show of force to goad NATO into protecting the Serbs in the Mitrovica enclave (Serbia requested that KFOR send 1,000 of its force, but KFOR refused). Kurti is trying to get the KFOR troops to tear down the Serbs’ barricades there. So KFOR is caught between two conflicting requests, and so far done nothing about either as best I can tell.
Serbia is basically telling KFOR to do its job to protect the enclave per 1244, or Serbia will do it per 1244. It’s a test of 1244. If sanity prevails, KFOR will send some troops to protect the enclave and EULEX will sort out the tiff over the policeman, and some EU and NATO bigwigs will scold Kurti to over his provocative List.
It looks to me like Kurti has got too big for his britches and making mischief and needs a spanking from the Big Boys at NATO. We’ll see whether he gets it, I guess. NATO might be paranoid right now about “looking weak” in the face of “Serb aggression” (as they’ll spin it), so I’m not counting on it. But really, this could be calmed down if they’d give Kurti a dressing down and send a few hundred KFORs up there.

I sais Serbia, not Bosnia and read Flopping Aces today. He has his biasrs but his column today is worrisome. Thete is no direct way Russia can access Serbia so defending it by applying pressure where they can is a military and political option. As for defending Serbia, 108 years ago they did by citing the bonds of Slavic blood.

“Defending Serbia” is somewhere around #847 on Putin’s list of things to worry about right now.
The war in Ukraine is a proxy war between the US and Russia. Europe is not divided between Great Powers and their alliances as was the case when WWI broke out. The US is currently the world’s top Great Power* and we are the King Daddy of NATO. European countries traded their autonomy in the military department for security — it’s a sort of modern version of feudalism. All the NATO countries do as we say. They are mere vassals. Sure, there’s that cool round table thing our vassals sit around like in the days of King Arthur, but Uncle Sam sits in the King Chair and calls the shots.
*We’re still #1 in the Great Power department, but #2 China is gaining fast. Russia is a distant #3. We have acted very foolishly and squandered the two decades we reigned as the sole Great Power on, well, foolishness. So here we are. :(
Russia would have to get through Ukraine first. Then it could theoretically move its forces through Hungary. I seriously doubt that Hungary would allow it to happen. Hungary receives a lot of subsidies from the EU. The subsidies would stop and there would be other repercussions for Hungary. Orban would have to be an idiot to try it. He would gain nothing, but lose a lot.

Except that WAS the case, but now the EU keeps sanctioning Hungary because Hungary will not allow their kids to be exposed to Groomers and Hungary will not allow itself to be flooded with fighting-aged men from south of Europe. And now that the NGOs (i.e., Neocon operatives) were kicked out, there’s really no hope for ‘regime change’ in that country.
So Hungary is likely wondering why they even bothered with the EU, particularly now given the Ukraine War.
As to NATO, with Belgrade about to be bombed into ashes by NATO, yet again, Hungary has to be wondering just who they need to be defended from.
...but yes, I agree that it’s unlikely the logistics could be set up to smuggle the kind of weapons Serbia needs to defend themselves from another NATO attack, even given how depleted NATO hardware now is.
