Born This Way? Why Are so Many College Students Saying They're Gay?

Human beings are social animals. We do what we see others doing. Occasionally the imitative tendency leads to mass hysteria, as large numbers of human beings convince themselves that there are witches possessing malevolent supernatural power among their friends and neighbors, that Martians have landed on earth and begun a violent takeover, or that large numbers of daycare centers are engaging in Satanic ritual abuse.

Human behavior is contagious and spreads to other humans, for good as well as for ill. What societies revere and glorify, they’ll get more of. And so it is that nearly 40% of students who attend liberal arts colleges now say they’re LGBTQ, including a whopping 61% of students at Smith and fully 70% of students at Wellesley.

Long before being LGBTQ was cool, the unsavory sex researcher Alfred Kinsey claimed that 10% of the population was homosexual, but this number was wildly exaggerated. In 2015, it was estimated that about nine million Americans, or a bit under three percent of the population, were LGBTQ. What has changed in America in the last seven years to make the LGBTQ population increase, at least among students at liberal arts colleges, by over 1,300%?

The answer is clear: our society glorifies being lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer, and a group that a society glorifies will grow.

This glorification is a product of the Left, and no entities are more Leftist these days than liberal arts colleges.

I remember when queers weren't allowed to work in schools.

In the early 70s the first one appeared in our local high school ... a dyke gym teacher.

A couple of years later about 25% of the graduating young women thought they were lezzies.

They should all be run out of the schools ... with baseball bats ...

It will change when they discover they are not satisfied in life. Hopefully that occurs soon rather than later.

Procreation rates, at least in North America, Europe, and East Asia, have declined below the replacement rate. Hostility to masculinity is part of the problem, and laws and courts that favor women in divorce cases are a factor discouraging men from entering into marriage.

Additionally, we are seeing the massive turning away from traditional male pursuits. Take professional football as an example. In 1971, 17% of NFL players were black. By 1981, that number had increased to 21%. In 1991, it was 33%. In 2001, it was 40%. And in 2020, it was 70%. The African American portion of the U.S. population has not changed much in 50 years. Granted that Asian and Hispanic Americans, whose numbers have increased greatly in this period, have largely not engaged in football due to their relatively small size and their soccer and baseball orientation, the decline in white participation in the sport is indicative of greater feminization, with mothers strongly discouraging participation in football.

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/great-goldfish-swallowing-craze-1939-180954429/

One of the weirdest, most revolting fads of the last century, started with a boast and a bet.

In 1939, a freshman named Lothrop Withington, Jr., reportedly bragged to his friends that he had once eaten a live fish. So, they bet him 10 bucks he couldn’t do it again. Like most young college students would, he took the challenge.

The moment of truth came on March 3, within the hallowed halls of Harvard. Standing in front of a crowd of grinning classmates and at least one Boston reporter, Withington dropped an ill-fated 3-inch goldfish into his mouth, gave a couple chews and swallowed. “The scales,” he later remarked, “caught a bit on my throat as it went down.”

It could have just been a gag-inducing footnote in Harvard’s yearbook—Crazy Coed Gulps a Guppy!—but the presence of the press meant that word of the stunt spread far and wide. Even LIFE magazine covered the story. The result was a goldfish-swallowing competitive craze that swept the nation’s colleges.

In April 1939, University of Missouri School of Journalism student Marie Hensen became the first woman widely known to join the goldfish swallowing craze. Bettmann/CORBIS

Over at the University of Pennsylvania, a student downed 25 while a guy at MIT briefly became the “new Intercollegiate Goldfish Swallowing Champion” with a count of 42. As the spring progressed, some girls joined in, and rivalries emerged between schools. According to one source, the final winner may have been Clark University’s Joseph Deliberato, who in April of that year gulped up a stomach-turning 89 goldfish in one sitting.

Thanks. The name Lothrop Withington sounds like a parody of a WASP name. Like Chatsworth Osborne (Tucker Carlson).

America has gone both insane & Satanic. Only divine intervention can save it now, and that’s not likely, IMO.

Born This Way? Why Are so Many College Students Saying They're Gay?

Why? To get attention and to be treated better than straight people.

True. But it was a real fad - even if the names sound fishy.

Being a sexual deviant is a get out of jail free card.

You can do anything up to and including murder and people will come out of the woodwork to defend you.

Because it allows them to claim homophobia if things don’t go their way.

“...”Yo shore got a purdy mouf.”

Good point. I don’t think deeply about gays but you’d think many would be averse to using the stinky back door.

Come to think about it, my question was more about whether the back door was an attraction even if it was not actually used used.

For further study look up “Anilingus” in Wikipedia.

It is a religion? If they would come out and claim that ... the First Amendment would be used as another weapon to violate the First Amendment rights of ... everyone who disagreed?
(Just when you think it has gotten as crazy as possible some new twisted argument comes along.)

My only comment at this point is that to a gay man sex really does smell like s4!+.

Is probably why so few San Franciscans complain about defecation on the streets...
