Philadelphia's police force remains understaffed. According to the Philadelphia Police Department, there have been 478 murders so far this year. The odds of becoming a victim of a property crime in the city are 1 in 34.
One North Philadelphia proprietor has had enough.
No longer willing to leave his life, his livelihood, and his customers' well-being to chance, Neil Patel, who runs Karco gas station at Broad and Clearfield streets, has raised his own defense force.
It is unclear, however, if elements of that force's past offenses will come back to jeopardize the initiative.
Patel owns 22 gas stations in the region, 12 of which are in Philadelphia.
Fox 29 reported that Patel's gas stations have been repeatedly ransacked and vandalized. Patel's car was targeted. An ATM machine was stolen from the premises. Shoplifting is a frequent occurrence.
According to WPVI, there was also a shooting at one of Patel's gas stations on Easter Sunday.
"Cops here, they don't do anything," said Patel.
Feeling obligated to hire "high-level security," Patel recruited so-called Pennsylvania S.I.T.E. Agents — private security guards sporting semi-automatic rifles or shotguns and clad in Kevlar vests.
Andre Boyer, referred to as "Chief" in the Fox 29 report, said, "We wear Kevlar, we are trained, my guards go to training every other week, they're proficient with [their guns] and with their Taser, they know the law."

Witnessing the rise of private armies
Especially with Krasner still there.
Not voting for Democraps would probably be more effective strategy but I guess that’s impossible now as Phili no longer has legit elections.
I would move the hell out. Why own a business in a city where crime is all but legalized? Where the crook is afforded more protection that the victims? The crooks got nothing to lose. They get arrested they are out the same day.
Plus if any of those guards shoot and kill a thug needless to say the owner is going to be sued into bankruptcy, that’s if the BLM legalized terrorist organization doesn’t burn down his gas station first.
I’m guessing he hopes this pushes trouble to softer targets.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Eventually the Democrat and Communist controlled city of Philadelphia will become like crime infested Democrat and communist run Detroit.
It mostly will.
All he can do is protect his own business.
The Mayor and DA are the true criminals.
> The Law is one thing, the courts are another. <
Right. A guard might beat a criminal charge after a good shoot. But then Mr. Patel would almost certainly face lawsuit, one that could bankrupt him.
After all, it would be a Philadelphia jury hearing the case.
They’ve got bullpups of some sort.
As JJ would say, “Looking Good”!!!
South of the border
Down Mexico way…
Anywhere south of the Rio Grande people who own things of value have security. Fences or armed guards, you protect what is yours when the government becomes lawless.
That’s from Mexico to South America. Even those who own small casas put a fence around it with broken glass and or razor wire on top to prevent thieves from climbing over.
Make America Mexico Again
Meanwhile, the fraudsters in PA keep electing anti-social, anti-American marxists. I hope this gas station owner is aware of the ultimate origin of his problems. Probably not.
That area is well known to having many roving bands of Amish, Mennonites, and Quakers meandering about stirring up trouble. Tragedy always follows when they encounter each other.
Es verdad. I remember a work visit to San Salvador about 20 years ago. Every place with a cash register had a guy with a shotgun. My hosts lived in a compound behind 20 foot walls - and armed guards.
Another signpost on our road to third-world oblivion.
Just down the street from Joe Frazer’s boxing club.
and the stores across the street were looted during the non violent peaceful protests for something two years ago.
