Once again, Donald Trump has proposed dismantling the United States Constitution. “Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION?” Trump asked on TruthSocial Saturday. “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
The answer to Trump’s question is “neither.” The response to his declaration is, “No, it does not.” The conclusion one must draw is that the 45th president of the United States has lost whatever was left of his mind.
That Trump probably cannot achieve his stated aims here remains spectacularly beside the point. During the closing days of the 2020 election, I wrote repeatedly about the seriousness of Joe Biden’s refusal to reject his party’s growing demand to “pack” — i.e. destroy — the United States Supreme Court. Not once did I receive an email from a Trump voter telling me that my alarm was misplaced on the grounds that, in all likelihood, Biden would not have the votes to do it. Back then — and rightly so — the mere fact that Biden was entertaining the idea was deemed instructive: “When people tell you what they want to do with power,” my correspondents invariably opined, “you should believe them. Joe Biden cannot be trusted with power.”
Well, so it is with Donald Trump once again. When Trump declared his 2024 candidacy last month, he implicitly asked us to judge him and his plans for the country, and, eventually, to compare those plans to those that are on offer from other hopefuls. And so we must — including when he talks about the election of 2020.

We ceased to be a republic on January 6, 2020.
The Constitution is no longer the law of the land.
Written from the perspective that the 2000 election was the most honest election in human history. IOW utterly bereft of moral sensibilities.
National Review: “Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.”
BS,,,,this is all BS, Trump never wanted to change the Constitution.
Not in so many words. But let's think about it from a different viewpoint.
Suppose in several states actions are brought and election officials and other high state officials are removed from office because they violated state constitutions or statutes and otherwise clearly caused their states to forward invalid presidential election certificates. Further, that the entire nation had an opportunity to review the matter and inescapably come to the conclusion the wrong guy was sitting in office
I.e., it would be too compelling to sweep under the rug and even so compelling that most in each party could not ignore it.
Do you think the Constitutional provision for impeachment and removal from office would not be available? Do you think the remedy would not also include installing the rightful winner with his chosen VP under the same theory?
Go away troll.
President Trump did not call for suspending the Constitution.
He said rules for certifying and upholding the results of an election are voided when the election is fraudulent, even those in the Constitution.
This position is entirely consistent with Constitutional law - all contracts are voided by fraud. Constitutional rules and procedures regarding inauguration or removal of a President apply only to duly elected Presidents, it was not designed to protect illegitimate Presidents from removal.
“There is no one with the authority to simply overturn an election and appoint the losing candidate President.”
But yet that’s exactly what they did when they appointed Biden.
A second opportunity to secede.
Hell, democrats do it all the time. Look what they are trying to do to the 2nd amendment?
Freep off, you Never Trump freak.
TRUTH: Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump The Fake News is actually trying to convince the American People that I said I wanted to “terminate” the Constitution. This is simply more DISINFORMATION & LIES, just like RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, and all of their other HOAXES & SCAMS. What I said was that when there is “MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION,” as has been irrefutably proven in the 2020 Presidential Election, steps must be immediately taken to RIGHT THE WRONG. Only FOOLS would disagree with that and accept STOLEN ELECTIONS. MAGA!
<> The problem is there is no clear constitutional remedy for an illegal president usurping power.<>
Sure there is.
But first, drop the political/electoral focus. Elections have become placeboes. They’re sugar cubes designed to let the people feel that their votes matter and that we are self-governing.
Per our Declaration of Independence, We the People have the Natural Right to frame our government.
Our Framers ensconced that right in Article V. It is past time to do an end run around our masters, the DC oligarchs.
Article V COS.
It seems to me that the Rats have already taken the Constitution away from us. You’d have to be blind with all of the Violations of the Constitution this government has been involved with and the Supreme Court really doesn’t seem to give a damned.
This country can plunge into full-blown communism before I'd vote for a Republican establishment/neocon/amnesty candidate that is complicit with rigging elections. I'll take my chances in a civil war or secession before I do that.
Suck on that foolish antiTrumpers.
I have a few things I look for in a Presidential candidate before I provide my money and support. One of them is don’t “express yourself badly.”
They have no understanding what Trump was talking about.
And with just one mean tweet, Donald Trump got the entire media and Democrat party to defend the US Constitution
And some freepers to pee their pants.
Just like Sarah Palin said “I can see Russia from My House.”
The FACT is several states threw out the constitution to install Joe Biden. It is not arguable.
