Arizona certifies 2022 election results amid threat of more GOP challenges

Arizona officials certified the state’s vote canvass on Monday, officially declaring winners in the high-profile gubernatorial and Senate races, among other contests, as GOP figures vow to fight the election results in court.

The once low-profile certification process turned into a fierce battle between election officials, Republican candidates and some county boards as the GOP seized on printer malfunctions in the state’s most populous county, in part leading Arizona to become an epicenter for voter disenfranchisement allegations.

Election officials have acknowledged mishaps but insist no voter was disenfranchised. Some GOP figures and their supporters claimed officials were lying, unsuccessfully calling on county boards to not certify their canvasses in recent days before turning their ire to Monday’s state-level certification.

But Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (D), who is now governor-elect, Gov. Doug Ducey (R), state Attorney General Mark Brnovich (R) and Arizona Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Brutinel still met to canvass last month’s election on Monday, a timeline mandated by state law.

“Arizona had a successful election,” Hobbs said. “But too often throughout the process, powerful voices proliferated misinformation that threatened to disenfranchise voters. Democracy prevailed, but it’s not out of the woods. 2024 will bring a host of challenges from the election denial community that we must prepare for.

Penzone is the key: he’s the protection guy for the Big Steal.

He defeated (and doubtless, cheated) his 2020 opponent Jerry Sheridan - an old Joe Arpaio guy - so the search needs to begin for a top constitutional sheriff in the Western US to move to Maricopa County and challenge him.

You are right - Arpaio's fall is what led to this whole mess and targeting Penzone is the key to repairing the damage. A better effort should have been made in 2020. When possible, the city of Phoenix needs to be spun off into its own county.

The problem with AZ Republicans - the real version - is they still think it’s played according to the rules.

Garbage like Penzone (Jersey guy), Kelly (another Jersey guy), Hobbs (a bottom surfing conniver), Fontes (just another corrupt Mexican) and of course Gates (Elmer Friggin’ Fudd) and Richer (Dickless) are all schemers and crooks mostly from elsewhere.

The locals really don’t know how bad this really is. Arpaio knew, and stayed ahead of the game. But of course the tut tutting housewives of Tempe and the purple haired Lesbos of ASU were outraged by him so they did everything to dump him and the idiots went along with it (”he’s so mean”).

Now they get to see the results. Think Los Angeles only it’s 115 deg out.

The Californians there now think this is all normal. It’s what they came from, what’s the big deal? They never connect the chaos with their own lack of character. They just found a place with lower home prices and no garbage on the streets.

That’s about to change.

Wanna really be mad?

Front page of Azcentral.com is about a house in Paradise Valley that sold for $4.6M.

But downpage, is this:

Katie Hobbs certifies 2022 Arizona election in ceremony at Capitol

They're downplaying it: way down in the article is this:

"Among the races Hobbs certified was her own win in the governor's race. Hobbs has drawn barbs from critics who see it as a conflict of interest"

And of course lots of nauseating crap from Hobbs about "defending democracy".

Beyond sickening.

All at

“She stayed in the basement while Lake worked her ass off knowing the whole time she was going to steal it even being down by 10 points.”

Is that plan going to become the elections across all the states. Bi din stayed in the basement and won. Now we have Katie (what’s her name) doing the same thing. Neither of them campaigned for the job. They were announced as winner, and nothing happened in either case. Who ever it is needs to quietly have a bad case of covid.

Under direct threat of political imprisonment to county officials if they did not certify.

Who was going to put them in jail? Hobbs’ office would have to do an investigation and then turn the results over to the AG.

As SOS can just put people in prison? No due process? No trial? No nothing?

Why have a Governor, AG, sheriffs and police when the SOS can just do what they want?

Pretty much nailed it with that comment.

And I doubt most folks from Arizona have ever heard Hobbs talk. From her campaign stops, it looks like she’s only get a couple of dozen folks, on a good day.

Arizona will soon learn they have an idiot that sounds like an 11yr old as their Governor.

A nasty 11 yr old.

Your post 55 is dead on. Why were all the County Supes afraid of her?

The SoS doesnt have arrest powers. It would have taken her weeks to put anything together. And Brnovich could have just told her to eff off.

So either she pulled a fast one on the maroons, or a little deal was made.

OMT....

Many people are trying to figure out just exactly what Hobbs could be charged with for using government power to silence Kari Lake.

It’s actually a federal charge: violation of 18 USC 242, violation of rights under color of law.

Usually thought of in a case like a cop beating up someone of a different race, but of course it’s far more broad then that.

I’ll take “a little deal was made”, for $200, Alex.

The liberals that are cheering all of this on are about to pay a very expensive price for their nonsense.

I realize that Sheriff Joe is gone, but there was still some semblance of order in the state with Ducey and Brnovich, as weak as they are. With Hobbs and, more importantly, whoever her puppet master is, that place is going to devolve, quick.

The counties with Conservative Sheriffs will maintain law and order as best they can. Doing that will funnel all the bad actors/illegals to Maricopa Cty where that place will become the SW version of NYC, SanFran, Seattle, Chicago, Philly...take your pic.

They cheated to win, but they won.

There's the new chorus for our "electoral" process.
