This week, the NYC Mayor's Office posted a job listing for a "citywide director of rodent mitigation," or as a city hall spokesperson dubbed it, "a rat czar." The director, who will receive an annual salary between $120,000 and $170,000, will be expected to develop strategies, manage projects and lead teams against the city's rodents.
The role's listed requirements include a "background in urban planning" and a "virulent vehemence for vermin."
"The ideal candidate is highly motivated and somewhat bloodthirsty, determined to look at all solutions from various angles, including improving operational efficiency, data collection, technology innovation, trash management, and wholesale slaughter," the job posting added.

Mink might work better. I’ve seen YouTube videos of trained ones hunting rats. They are viscous and can go everywhere a rat can go. I’ve seen them work in tandem with a dog. Maybe they can work with cats too.

I think eliminating the two legged RATS should take priority over the four legged ones.

- Cats,
- Poison in rat accessible containers so pets can't reach it.
- Pheromone fake rats to lead the rats back to New Jersey where they belong.
- Soy rat food to decrease male rat testosterone.
- Unleash infertile female rats in mass. Takes 2 years for them all to die off.
- Also, Bobcats and Mountain Lions, Birds of Prey, Snakes, and Weevils also prey on rats.

Sounds like an excellent use of city funds. This is a basic civil function like filling pot holes and enforcing vagrancy laws.

Getting rid of all the RATs in New York would decimate the politician population in the state.
Not that that’s a bad thing...

This is not my writing:
I first encountered the story “The Pied Piper of Hamelin” when I was five, watching a marathon of Saturday morning cartoons. The Silly Symphonies Disney short is from 1933, but it’s an incredibly grim story for a kids’ cartoon in any era. Here’s the basic plot: in the 13th century, a piper wearing pied, or multicolored, clothing promises to rid the German town Hamelin of a rat infestation. The mayor promises him money if he succeeds. He does, but the town now refuses to pay him. As revenge, he hypnotizes the town’s children with his music and leads them away, never to be seen again.

Fortunately for this new rat czar, the perfect rodent trap has a.ready been invented. All he’s got to do is follow the design shown on the box.
