Trump is done, finished, kaput as megadonors bail in droves [WashTimes]
Washington Times ^ | Joseph Curl

Donors just didn’t want to back a loser — and that’s just what Mr. Trump is now — a loser.

“Hedge fund manager Ken Griffin, the second-most prolific GOP donor of the midterms, said Tuesday that he would support [Florida Gov. Ron] DeSantis over Trump, pointing to the Florida governor’s dominant reelection victory in a state that was considered competitive until recently,” The Hill reported this week.

“I’d like to think that the Republican Party is ready to move on from somebody who has been for this party a three-time loser,” said Mr. Griffin, who funded a pro-Trump super political action committee in previous cycles but has already given $5 million to a PACE aligned with Mr. DeSantis.

Robert and Rebekah Mercer, two top donors to Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign, are also done backing the former president, CNBC reported on Friday.

“Blackstone CEO Steve Schwarzman, Citadel CEO Ken Griffin, wealthy New York businessman Andy Sabin and billionaire Ronald Lauder are among the wealthy GOP donors opting against helping Trump’s latest campaign — at least during the Republican primary,” CNBC said. “Some of the country’s wealthiest GOP donors do not believe Trump can win again and have argued for a new face to represent their party in the race for president.”

Money often decides elections, so Mr. Trump’s desire to run again may simply be trumped by a lack of money. Should that occur, Mr. Trump might not even make it to the primaries, especially if Mr. DeSantis hoovers up all the cash. ... There was no more fear of The Don, and a look deep into the exit polling data shows Mr. Trump truly was a drag on the party.

All of these donors have ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

People actually pay to read the Washington Times? I would be worried and worried about Musk, except the sources of these doom articles are part of the LSM.

How does DeSantis?

DeSantis might lose.

Trump WILL lose.

I'll take my chances with DeSantis who's never lost an election over Trump, who's lost the last three.

No one has a better batting average on endorsements than Trump

Oh please.

Trump is trying to take credit for the safe bet races of people like Rubio, Grassley, and Rand Paul when he talks about his "93% winning endorsements!" but the real test is how did Trump's picks do in the swing states he lost in 2020 but will need to win in 2024 if he wants to have a shot?

Let's take a look at Trump's "hand-picked" endorsements (not the people running in safe seats who would've won no matter what):

Governors:

Lombardo: W
Lake: L
Mastriano: L
Michels: L
Dixon: L
Perdue: L

Senate:

Johnson: W
Walker: RO
Masters: L
Oz: L
Laxalt: L
Bolduc: L

Secretaries of State:

Finchem: L
Karamo: L
Marchant: L
Hice: L

These are the critical swing states Trump needs to win and the voters in these swing states were not buying what Trump was selling.

And these are going to be the same voters in '24.

“”It is time that we take the next great step in civil rights—run a chimpanzee for President.””

Didn’t they just do that? Chump/Chimp remained in the basement in 2020. Arizona Chump/Chimp remained in the bathroom. Millions of ‘votes’ were gathered for both. Who counts the votes was never more true.

DeSantis runs, without a PDJT endorsement, he get wiped out in a National Election. MAGA voters will abandon him in droves.

And Trump keeps the MAGA voters but loses everyone else.

So there we have it. Might as well write off '24.

DeSantis can bide his time and accomplish things as governor while wooing prospective donaters in private. Trump in the meantime cant do much publicly.

DeSantis is basically an incumbent and that, as we all know, has a number of advantages.

I'm waiting for any of the "Trump or nothing!" folks to convince me that he can win ANY ONE of the states he lost in '20.

He can't - under the current rules. But neither can any other Republican, including DeSantis, and at least Trump won't lose graciously and pretend there is no problem. It is going to take anther two or three cycles to properly address and deal with election fraud and ballot harvesting. Trump's big mouth focused 100% on the issue is a necessity to bypass the media gatekeepers.

His presence will keep alive and strengthen MAGA - and greatly improve the future prospects for DeSantis, who will wisely sit out 2024 and rise up to crush Gavin Newsom in 2028.

I think this is another example of how the midterm damaged Trump standing. People aren’t afraid of him anymore and being out of office and with no more elections till 2024, there isn’t much he can do.

False. Particularly when what we end up with is more Uniparty RINOS. And please abandon the implied fraud denial.

Wall Street and multinational corporations, are vehemently opposed to the America-First economic agenda.

They cling to the democrat party because they know it’s a easy ride with some of their deals that would get others charges for a crime.

Clinton’s and Biden’s didn’t deal alone club membership is high but worth the cost.
