I didn’t say it was a bad thing - I enjoy outstanding musicianship regardless of ethnicity - even Miles Davis, who was known for being critical of non-blacks (or indeed anyone who wasn’t Miles Davis) hired for talent agnostic to race.
I agree with you on that point.
Because the flip side of race hatred is self-loathing.
I'm not an adoptive parent. I gave birth to my children, who happen to be "mixed." Whether my kids referred to themselves as black or mixed was fine with me. One even preferred the term mulatto. But, they've never called themselves white, and neither have I, because that's not what they are.
Growing up, they had friends of all backgrounds, and they all got along well. They joked around with each other without anyone becoming offended. Whenever race was a topic in the news, my kids would roll their eyes and say they were sick of hearing about race. Then, college happened, with mostly white leftist professors and "woke" white friends. Then 2020 happened. My now-grown kids have mostly white friends who are woker than woke.
My kids once had some black friends. You know what those black friends spend time talking about, even today? Their love for Jesus. I sooooo wish my kids were closer with those friends, who were raised by married black parents.
No they do not call themselves white identified. That is a descriptor I used here.
They have said that their values align with the largely white broadly middle class environment in which they were raised and within which they continue.
They have numerous and different friends from a number of ethnicities but most are in the class where they were raised. They do occasionally speak about friends who have gone woke and have turned on their white parents. College is hell for these kids imho. My kids who attended college missed most of the issues for a confluence of several reasons.
In certain sections of the country Italians were considered black or at least a dark race even in the 80s.
I truly believe in nature over nurture. I wish sometimes I could sit and discuss what in retrospect turned out to be a 4 subject longitudinal study in development biology and culture.
You are correct. She was trained like a seal at leftist education centers to hate her own. Her parents had no idea. Happening throughout the US. Some people are beginning to understand however these leftist trained seals are embedded in the fabric and destined to tear down our culture at any cost.
Yes, indeed. Probably all over the country. I remember it. We range from a deep olive to light-skinned. That's one reason why my viewpoint is different from others here. The term "white" has always been subjective.
Nurture trumps nature. Most parents like to believe otherwise because we can’t live with ourselves if we think we messed up in some way.
But, we parents DO mess up sometimes, even when our intentions are good, whether we want to acknowledge those slipups or not.
Environment is the most important factor.
Case in point: All those confused kids who think they’re the opposite sex weren’t born thinking that way. Their environment did that to them. Their schools, social media, and sometimes their own parents confused them.
Advertising and screens and grooming and social contagtion causes the teen Tran phenomenon. It is different from nuturance. It is an environmental phenomenon however.
We parents choose the environment for our children, though. We decide where they grow up, who they are around, what they are exposed to, and so on. We nurture them with an environment we have much control over, when they are young.
True. But ultimately it is what they are made of that determines what they do with their nurture.
I see things differently. I’ve long accepted that I made both good and bad decisions with each one of my kids and that those decisions determined how their lives would turn out. Fortunately, they all turned out to be good people.
