Attorney General Merrick Garland to name special counsel in Trump criminal probe, report says
cnbc ^

Posted on 11/18/2022 10:49:44 AM PST by janetjanet998

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland will appoint a special counsel to determine whether criminal charges should be filed against former President Donald Trump in connection with two pending investigations, according to reports Friday.

News of the planned appointment of the special counsel, which was reported by The Wall Street Journal, came three days after Trump announced plans to run for president in 2024. The Republican faces multiple criminal investigations.

NBC News reported that the special counsel, whose name has not been announced, will make decisions for two Department of Justice investigations of Trump.

One is focused on whether Trump broke the law and obstructed justice in connection with his removal of hundreds of documents from the White House, which were shipped to his residence at Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. The other probe is related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot by a mob of Trump supporters.

Yes, and you’re contradicting yourself by using pejoratives, because you probably disparage Trump for his usage thereof.

Good point.

As soon as DeSantis’ scope becomes national, they’ll probably go after him just as vigorously.

Like so many other politicians, DeSantis can be bought off. They can’t buy Trump. That no worky.

Trump is no doubt more of a threat to their agenda. That does not mean DeSantis is not in their sights or will be.

I like Desantis too. However, if they take out Trump you have to realize they will do the same to Desantis.

Trump - 2024 / Desantis - 2028

“Took him out to what? Dinner?”

Took him out.

“We can’t keep letting enemies of the Republic pick our leaders.”

Our enemies did not pick DeSantis, the greatest conservative leader.

DeSantis would have never appointed Wray.

If Trump is so beaten, how is it he has the will to run again? Fact is he is not done. There was no hesitation, no backing down, only moving forward.

You’re not going to find anyone like him. Not even Reagan has this kind of resolve.

DeSantis is a distant, and I mean distant second.

"DeSantis is not a fraud."

You know how he has conducted himself with the Florida State Legislature, which has been consistently controlled by Republicans since he was elected Governor. He's had the ability to get just about everything he's wanted passed, and signed into law. Do you know how he would conduct himself as President with the U.S. House of Representatives, and the U.S. Senate if Republicans don't have control of both Houses, or if Republicans keep the House, but Democrats keep their Senate Majority in 2024? No one can predict how any Republican President will deal with Democrats if they are in control of Congress in 2025, not even DeSantis. There is too much unknown. He's only had to work with his own party members since he's been Governor. It's a whole different ball of wax when your party is in the minority, and you're a Republican President trying to get things done. Only time will tell how Conservative he really is.

“You know how he has conducted himself with the Florida State Legislature, “

Yes. When they sent him bills he didn’t like he sent back to them his bill and said it was either his way or the highway.

They passed his bills and he was reelected by 20 points turning a purple state solid red.

” It’s a whole different ball of wax when your party is in the minority, “

Trump had a majority in both housed and let Ryan call the shots.

DeSantis would have presented his bills to Ryan and told him to pass them or lose your leadership.

If DeSantis were to win the democrats would not have majorities.
