FLASHBACK: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Pushed Lockdowns, Vaccines, Shut Down Churches Throughout COVID Pandemic
Big League Politics ^ | Nov 15, 2022 | Shane Trejo

A common trope from supporters of the likely presidential run of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is that he stopped COVID lockdowns in his state during the height of the pandemic while President Donald Trump was pushing them from the White House.

But the record shows that this is not what occurred. DeSantis used his authority as governor to enforce lockdowns, shuttering businesses, and use the power of the state to punish noncompliance with his edicts.

Video from June 2020 shows DeSantis threatening bars with revoking their liquor licenses unless they abided by his arbitrary restrictions enacted supposedly in the name of science:

For the folks who continue to insist that Florida was not locked down and, if it was, it was only for a couple weeks, here is @GovRonDeSantis in June of 2020 threatening Florida bars with losing their liquor licenses if they didn't follow pandemic restrictions. pic.twitter.com/CwyTuoIAkU

— SFDB (@sfdb) November 11, 2022

Additionally, pastors were arrested and thrown in jail because they held services during DeSantis’ lockdown. The DeSantis administration grotesquely infringed upon religious liberty and made a mockery of the 1st Amendment during the pandemic:

DeSantis, like Trump, has shilled hard for the experimental COVID-19 vaccines as well, assuring the public that they were safe for usage and would stop transmission when that turned out to be a lie.

“If you’re vaccinated and you test positive but you don’t get sick, well the name of the game is to keep people out of the hospital,” DeSantis said in July 2021. “Seventy-five percent of Floridians over the age of 50 have gotten shots, so we think that’s really, really positive.”

“If you are vaccinated, fully vaccinated, the chance of you getting seriously ill or dying from COVID is effectively zero,” he said “If you look at the people that are being admitted to hospitals, over 95% of them are either not fully vaccinated or not vaccinated at all. And so these vaccines are saving lives. They are reducing mortality.”

Big League Politics has reported about the RINO globalist mega donors currying favor with DeSantis, cajoling him to run for president in 2024 to upend the America First movement and divert grassroots energies into supporting traditional Republican politics:

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is quickly becoming the favorite of the globalist RINO mega donors who want to “move on” from Donald Trump.

Ken Griffin, a globalist RINO mega donor, talked to Politico about why he is backing DeSantis because he sees him as the vehicle to move on from Trump and his brand of populism that has made the GOP less hospitable for soulless corporations that have sold America down the river.

“He did a lot of things really well and missed the mark on some important areas,” Griffin said. “And for a litany of reasons, I think it’s time to move on to the next generation.”

Griffin has given $5 million to DeSantis’ gubernatorial re-election campaign in Florida. He is hoping that by buying favor with DeSantis, he can convince him to run in 2024 in an attempt to end the Trump revolution.

“Would I support him? The bigger question is, is he going to run? That bridge has to be crossed,” he said.

“He has a tremendous record as governor of Florida, and our country would be well-served by him as president,” Griffin added.

It is clear Donald Trump is intending to run for president again in 2024 from the comments he has made.

“Everybody, I promise you, in the very next — very, very, very short period of time, you’re going to be happy,” Trump said. “But first we have to win a historic victory for Republicans on Nov. 8.”

In addition to the RINO megadonors, the notorious former House Majority Leader Paul Ryan is also on board for DeSantis in 2024.

Overall, DeSantis has an impressive record in Florida, but his record is being distorted in order to present him as a credible foil for President Trump’s presidential run in 2024. Trump is the candidate in 2024, and if DeSantis has the audacity to run against him, it will be the worst decision he could ever make for the America First movement as well as his own future ambitions.

We can “duke it out” in the Primary without trashing each other. That’s counterproductive and inhibits the necessary teamwork which must follow.

In the General ... democRATs must be destroyed.

Riiiiight.

The record does not reflect this, in fact, Desantis was at the top of all those criticized for creating "super spreaders" that never happened.

What a bunch of nonsense.

No need to get into the primary flame wars until someone else enters the race! lol.

It will be brutal around here, once someone does. As usual

You forgot Jared and Ivanka!

Then there was Anthony Scaramucci, but I guess he didn’t last long enough to do much rolling.

Now he’s backing Kevin McCarthy. I guess getting rolled by Paul Ryano repeatedly wasn’t adequate.

It’s would be impossible to rig an election with over 7.5 million votes to the results as a 20% victory

Florida doesn’t have universal mail in voting, ballot harvesting or unattended drop boxes and ballots have to delivered no later than the day of the election

Did any cheating happen, probably but not on the scale to affect the race where DeSantis won by nearly 1.5 million votes

He pushed them in the beginning, because nobody understood what was happening. He was also the first one to stop one it became apparent that it wasn’t really a problem.

I live in Florida and to be fair Florida was locked down like every other state early in the pandemic. When I left the state and came back I had to go through a checkpoint on the interstate with police officers asking where I'd been and if you answered wrong you were told to quarantine for two weeks.

We were prohibited from going onto the beaches (why I'll never know) and from my condo you could see the police helicopters flying down the beach every 15 minutes or so to enforce it. There were also police trucks constantly driving up and down the beach. You'd see families sneak out of their condos onto the beach, the dad would face one direction and the mom the other direction to watch for police while the kids would run into the water and splash around for a couple of minutes before dad would motion for them to come back and they'd run back to the condo. It would have been funny except for how pathetic it was that people were forced to live like that. Restaurants were take out only and the ones that stayed open had to hand out food from tents outside the building in the parking lots. Many didn't survive, one of my favorites, Hemingway's in Pensacola Beach, went under.

So yes, it's true that for a while Florida was as stupid as every other state about the pandemic. That was from about May 2020 until probably October or November. That's about the time that DeSantis realized how stupid it all was and eased off the restrictions. I give him credit for being one of the first governors to stop the silliness, and by doing so saved Florida's economy and our resident's sanity. However, it's true that in the beginning Florida was as retarded as everyone else in dealing with Covid.

We were also seeing the scary videos coming from China with people falling over dead in the streets, dead people stacked up against the walls in hospitals, huge hospital tents, etc.

It took awhile for us (well me anyway) to realize that it was all theater. Either for the ChiComs to be able to put lockdowns on their own people, and/or to put the rest of the world in lockdown and ruin our economies.

“Maybe they fixed the 2016 election”

The 2016 election wasn't Trump winning it was Hillary losing

TPTB or to paraphrase Carlin “The Owners” didn't like or want Hillary and Trump was an acceptable substitute until the playing field could be sorted out.

Let the trashing of DeSantis begin.

That's nothing compared to the trashing he will get if he gets the nomination.

Did they ever think that they did rig FL to help DeSantis? They are desperate for him to be the nominee and not Trump and wanted him to appear strong.

That's a SILLY-A$$ statement because it NEVER happened.

First.. most polls are simply a FACADE from which FRAUD can then be perpetrated and BELIEVED because polls tend to set the stage for the "expected" or "unexpected" outcome.

So WHY did Florida expect and then SEE a RED wave? WHY did voting work so efficiently in Florida? Vote tally results were KNOWN within hours of the polls closing.

Because in Florida they do NOT ALLOW mail-in ballots on a mass scale.. and NO drop boxes which lead to 'VOTE HARVESTING." Florida OUTLAWED those systems and DeSantis overwhelmingly prevailed in a SANE and HONEST election.

Think about it... 75 to 80% of Americans strongly feel this Country is headed in the WRONG direction. Does it make sense that they would vote for a Fetterman, or a Katie Hobbs?

Once again... "The LEFT is winning because they’re harvesting millions of illegal ballots all across the country and getting them into the system to be COUNTED as legal votes. They’re not getting voters to vote. They're HARVESTING pre-printed ballots to offset the actual voters who do vote."

Until that scam ridden system is FIXED in the various states where it is ALLOWED you can only expect to get the same UNEXPECTED results that we received in 2020 and now again in 2022.

If things don't CHANGE they'll stay the SAME!

People forget so very quickly there were organizations out there like the Bill Gates-funded Washington University Institute for Health and Metrics Evaluation (IHME) predicting very dire numbers (up to one million Americans dead) within the year..... and they weren’t the only ones. NIAID of NIH (Fauci and Collins), CDC (WAlensky), WHO et al were chicken-little’ing all over the place.

People also forget that New York’s Cuomo et al clamored loudly over the dearth of ventilators and hospital beds - one example a multi-million dollar hospital tent set up in NYC that was virtually UNUSED, and the Hospital ship President Trump sent - also unused. And those ventilators the President diverted production resources for? They were largely sold off or junked as I recall.

To me, it’s not the point it was done initially as a seemingly valid caution. It was very scary (made up, but scary). The point is that some states saw quickly that all that mask mandate/closure stuff wasn’t needed. Many states kept on doing it - to the point that “Mask Karens” on Youtube became a regular viewing option.

All this said, I don’t blame DeSantis OR President Trump for their early Covid responses. I support Trump first and then DeSantis and IF it works out either gets the nomination I’ll go with them.

Agreed, in 2016 Hilary's negatives were higher than Trump's

BS. My daughter goes to college there and everytime I went there during the pandemic it’s as if you left the rest of the country and there was no pandemic. He showed prudence in the beginning and then courage.

This Florida resident was sitting at a restaurant bar drinking a beer and eating a burger Memorial Day weekend 2020. When I posted it on Facebook everyone outside Florida thought I was surely going die of Covid.
