MSNBC presidential historian Michael Beschloss said Wednesday on “All In” said that if Republicans take the majorities in Congress, American democracy will end, and “our children” will be jailed and killed by a “brutal authoritarian system.”
Beschloss said, “Six nights from now, we could all be discussing violence all over this country. There’s signs that may happen, may God forbid. That losers will be declared winners by a fraudulent election officers, or a secretary of state candidates, or governors, or state legislatures. We could be six days away from losing our rule of law and losing a situation where we have elections that we all can rely on. Those are the foundation stones of democracy.”

He might. I know there are people who do believe it. Either way, this kind of demagoguery needs to stick to him for good. When his predictions don’t come true, will he repent of being a fool and a bombthrower? I doubt it. Neither will Howard Dean, who called us fascists, nor will the guy who currently lives at the White House.

None of these people truly believe what they are saying. They are sociopaths attempting to manipulate the general population and rally their supporters to action.
As a somewhat worse aside, they are clearly projecting what they are willing to do in order to retain power. They are absolutely intending to be declared winners by fraudulent election officials and reinforce their "victory" by instigating violence all over this country against opponents.
They already did this in the 2020 "elections" and were successful. Of course, they will try it again. We have already seen how they discard the rule of law when it is inconvenient for them. The logistics are more complicated this time and they have injured too many people to make it as easy as 2020 was. But they are not backing away.
If they can prevail, they will implement a brutal and authoritarian system to jail and kill their opponents and the children of their opponents. It is what they want to do, and they have a lot of people who support them and want the same thing.
This is how you get a civil war.
I agree with all of your post except the issue of whether they believe what they are saying.
People have a way of talking themselves into false beliefs—if you keep repeating a mantra over and over again it is very easy to start believing it—no matter how ridiculous.
