Paul Pelosi, the husband of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was attacked with a hammer by a person who broke into the Pelosis' San Francisco home Friday morning.
San Francisco police identified the alleged assailant as David DePape, 42.
Pelosi was hospitalized and underwent successful surgery to repair a skull fracture. A spokesperson from Pelosi’s office said he is expected to recover. After being hospitalized early in the day, DePape was booked on suspicion of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, elder abuse and several other felony charges.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was seen leaving San Francisco General Hospital around 7:45 p.m., hours after she arrived to see her husband, who is recovering from surgery. Pelosi did not make any comments to the group of news media gathered outside the hospital. She was escorted by police and other security.
San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott praised the 911 dispatcher who was able to get officers out to the Pelosi residence within two minutes after Paul Pelosi called the emergency number during Friday morning’s hammer attack.
Scott said that the dispatcher could sense that something was off because Pelosi kept the phone line open as he interacted with the suspect, and she was able to prioritize a call — “a well-being check” — that would have otherwise been considered a low priority for SFPD.
“She knew there was more to it,” Scott said. “That led to a quicker response."
S.F. Police Chief Bill Scott said at a press conference that "this was not a random act." He would not disclose more details of how police knew that. "We are not at the point we can say what the motive was publicly. But we know it was intentional," he said.

“RP (reporting person) stated there’s a male in the home and that he’s going to wait for his wife.
RP stated that he doesn’t know who the male is but he advised that his name is David and that he is a friend. “
Someone else wrote that this is second time this hear Paul Pilosi has been hammered.
This Depape guy is going to get released and then jump off the GG Bridge in a couple days. Just watch.

Second, it was horrible, but let's be clear. Shooting House of Representative Republicans at a baseball practice was also horrible. Sending protesters out to the homes of Supreme Court Justices was horrible. Sending people and attack squads out to members of the Trump Administration when they were dining out with their family was terrible.
Neither side of the political spectrum has a lock on violence. Also some of the current attack adds I am seeing on television and the internet by Democrats show Republicans as extremists who need to be stopped.
It is time to end the politics of personal destruction. Unfortunately, I believe that far too many in the Democratic Party like the politics of personal destruction. If that is the case then what is good for the Goose is good for the Gander.

All the local police and local news reporters try to achieve that status.
Otherwise it means all elderly people coming back from the store may get thrown to the ground and beaten, anyone on a subway platform could be pushed onto the tracks in front of a speeding train, all women joggers might get pulled into a van and raped and murdered and all families asleep at night may suffer getting home invaded and duct taped and tortured.
Better to say “believed to be a drug deal that went bad” or “thought to be revenge for rival gang member slashing their major dealer to death.” Then people feel safer.
Sounds like Pelosi and David were playing a little Butt-Bandit gone wrong.
He not only got hammered, he got nailed.
