Inflation is a multi-headed hydra (from Greek Mythology). It is composed of 1) monetary stimulus (that The Fed is slowly withdrawing), 2) massive, reckless Federal spending and 3) Biden’s anti-fossil fuel mandates. So, when the inflation numbers are out later this week, it will be fun to dissect the damage being done to the US economy and middle-class/low-wage workers.
Take Los Angeles, for example. The life blood of the shipping industry, diesel fuel, is UP 176% under Biden, despite declining for a short period of time. And the DOE Strategic Petroleum Reserve is DOWN -34.7% under Biden.
Arizona’s fuel prices are high, but right now diesel is the same as gasoline, with both around $5.
Strategic Petroleum Preserve
A little info on it.
I actually want fuel prices in CA to rise. Up to $10 or $20 per gallon, and for those EV aficionados I want those recharge costs to be the equivalent of running their AC full blast in summertime. Every day of the week.
They, the ones who support the largest pool of leftism in this country, have to be realigned - or just plain driven back to reality.
I’m honestly surprised more people are not leaving California. I will say this: One of the good things about living there is that even if you are middle class, the cost of living and, therefore, wages, are both pretty high, relatively speaking. That means you can really build up a nice social security nest egg on top of all the other ways of saving money.
Why is that important? Because the Social Security rules apply regardless of what US member nation you live in. This means you can do what I did: Live in an expensive state, then retire in an inexpensive state, and you can live extremely comfortably on SS alone, if necessary.
So you can sell your small domicile in California for $600k and buy acreage and a very nice home in Kentucky for less than a quarter of that (hopefully with no mortgage) - and a tiny fraction of the annual tax burden.
Seriously, it’s what I did. I live in paradise in Kentucky, but if I was still in the Seattle area, well, for starters, I couldn’t have afforded to retire. And I’d really be stressed by the cost of living and lack of a solid nest egg. Stress is the reason I retired 16 months ago, for health reasons. And I’m the happiest I’ve been in a very LONG time.
I shoulda’ done this when I was 20!
Because diesel fuel is up 176% and climbing then prices for food and everything else will go up and will continue going up and next year the prices will go up even more as the farm crops are being harvested now with the higher prices baked in for higher store prices.
You know the democrats want this but I do not understand their insanity.
No wonder Let's Go Brandon keeps insisting gas is going down.
$5.00?
I’m paying 3.86 a gallon in my territory in AZ.
$5 here in the valley (I’m in Queen Creek)
Big cities are greedy and want more for everything...Been there done that.
Biden and his handlers will take the SPR to zero - guaranteed.
I have to drive to that fetid state for family obligations. I can’t believe how much it is going to cost just in fuel. I can take a luxury trip to Greece for less than driving across that state.
