Russia, Having 'Run Out Of Missiles', Launches Barrage On Ukraine
Moon of Alabama ^ | October 10, 2022

Posted on 10/10/2022 8:53:33 AM PDT by Kazan

Back in March I had warned that Lies Do Not Win Wars. Here is another practical example.

After allegedly having 'run out of missiles' and, more importantly, patience, the leadership of the Russian Federation decided to de-electrify Ukrainian cities with a 'barrage of missile strikes'.

But first came the propaganda blubber:

Then a warning:

'We Haven't Started Yet,' Putin Says in Hawkish Speech on Ukraine Invasion - Haaretz - Jul 7, 2022

President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia had barely got started in Ukraine and dared the West to try to defeat it on the battlefield, while insisting that Moscow was still open to the idea of peace talks.

...

"Today we hear that they want to defeat us on the battlefield. What can you say, let them try," he said. "We have heard many times that the West wants to fight us to the last Ukrainian. This is a tragedy for the Ukrainian people, but it seems that everything is heading towards this."

... "Everyone should know that, by and large, we haven't started anything yet in earnest," he added. "At the same time, we don't reject peace talks. But those who reject them should know that the further it goes, the harder it will be for them to negotiate with us."

Russia Unleashes Biggest Barrage of Strikes on Ukraine Since Invasion - WSJ - Oct 10, 2022

Cities throughout Ukraine, including Kyiv, are bombarded after Putin slams Ukraine over Crimea bridge blast

KYIV, Ukraine—Russia carried out waves of strikes on several Ukrainian cities including the capital in the broadest and most intense onslaught since the start of the invasion, after President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of a “terrorist attack” on a critical bridge connecting Russia’s mainland to the occupied Crimean Peninsula.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had carried out dozens of strikes using missiles as well as Iranian-made drones to target civilian and power infrastructure. “They want panic and chaos,” he said. “They want to destroy our energy system.”

Ukraine "under missile attack" as explosions rock Kyiv and other cities - CBSNews - Oct 10, 2022

Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the president's office, said on social media Monday that, "Ukraine is under missile attack. There is information about strikes in many cities of our country."

General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said on Twitter that Russia had launched 75 missiles at Ukraine but that "41 of them were neutralized by our air defence."

Zelenskyy later emerged onto a street in Kyiv to record a selfie video with a message to his people and the world, denouncing Russia for the barrage of missiles which he said had targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, and its civilians.

Kiev, Lviv, Karkov, Dnipropetrovsk, Krivoy Rog all report damage to their electricity infrastructure.

Russia is now isolated from those crucial parts by sanctions

Russia isolated? That is a fantasy!

Except for the US and EU, the rest of the world is conducting business as usual with Russia.

Japan isn’t, Taiwan’s TSCM isn’t, and they make 95% of all the chips used in high-tech devices

and if the sanctions weren’t effective, why did Putin shut off the gas flows on Sept. 1 until they are lifted?

if Russia is willing to lose $10 billion every week until the sanctions stop, the sanctions must be working

Are you serious? Russia manufacturers missiles.

Yeah, that was my rhetorical point. Unless one stops Russia's ability to manufacture new missiles it seems a bit unwise to depend on them running out.

Ukrainians have vast experience with the Russian way of war and its fundamentally criminal nature. Whether that be carpet bombing civilian centers with rocket artillery or genocidally kidnapping thousands of Ukrainian children. That, my FRiend, is why they fight.

Now it all makes sense. That's why the Ukes have been shelling the Donbass all these years; so the children there won't be kidnapped.

So were the missiles Russia launched at Ukraine hypersonic missiles? After all, the “lies” never said that Russia was out of missiles, but rather that it was running low on hypersonic missiles.

...still less than 100 total...

It's not really about number of missiles, it's about tonnage of ordnance.

So, let's compare this piddly effort to Linebacker II.

On Day One of Linebacker II, 129 B-52s launched from Andersen and U-Tapao in three massive waves spaced at four-hour intervals. Each B-52 would carry 54,000 pounds (27 tons) of GP bombs. The total tonnage for day one is 3,483 tons of ordnance. These were dropped in and around Hanoi and Haiphong areas (2 cities and not all of North Vietnam).

If the missiles that Russia launched were the Kinzhal missile, then the warhead weight would be approximately 1000 pounds. 100 missiles would equal 50 tons of ordnance or 2 B-52 sorties.

It will take Russia 64 days to equal the tonnage of day 1 of Linebacker II.

Linebacker II lasted 11 days. So, it will take Russia over 23 months, firing 100 Kinzhal missiles per day, to equal the tonnage of Linebacker II.

Russia is not using Bomber aircraft...a clear indication they do not have air supremacy...but that is for discussion at a later time.

>> Now it all makes sense. That’s why the Ukes have been shelling the Donbass all these years; so the children there won’t be kidnapped. <<

In 2019, Zelenskyy defeated Petro Poroshenko in democratic elections.

No children were killed by shelling in the Donbass in 2019 or 2020.

Poroshenko, who had been installed as a result of the Maidan was bitterly unpopular for the conduct of the war, and was beaten by 3-to-1 by Zelenskyy, who represented the concialiarist party. Yuri Boyko, Russia-friendly candidate did far worse still, getting only 11% of the vote.

Russia’s oil exports are doing just fine.

Cutting off the EU is not going to hurt them.

PS: It is $10 billion per month....not week.

Agree. And Russia never had soldiers without insignia illegally invading Ukraine. The fact is the Bolshevik Kremlin has lied to the world for over 100 years. Now they lie about Ukraine. Believe Kremlin lies if you wish. This MAGA conservative won’t be.

The Ukey kooks will be here with their multiple accounts cheerleading every day for that dancing maniac and Biden. And they just use projection against anyone who disagrees with them like the other Alinsky disciples.

The lack of acknowledgment to any historic or geopolitical argument tells me most comments are from The area between Maryland and Virginia.

A breakdown from Russia of just what they’d shot would be informative, but probably unwise at this stage of the war. Ukes may be able to provide some information on with what they claim to have been hit. If they claim to have been hit by a bunch of relatively new, high grade stuff as opposed to having been hit by older or repurposed (eg. anti-aircraft missiles repurposed as surface to ground) stuff it may offer clues to the state of Russian stockpiles. But you’d have to consider their claims as potential propaganda.

Russia seems to be using this war to get rid of their old tanks and missiles. Easier way to save money than dismantling them. And we have to go and clean up their leftovers.
