Vice President Kamala Harris was involved in a one-car crash on a closed roadway in Washington, D.C., which the Secret Service initially misreported as a "mechanical failure," according to a report.
The Monday morning crash has sent shock waves through the Secret Service, according to insiders speaking with the Washington Post. While the vice president wasn't injured, the nature of the accident has raised the question of how such a careless incident was able to occur within the prestigious agency.
The SUV carrying Harris hit a curb of a tunnel with such force that the tire had to be replaced. The vice president was moved to another vehicle in the motorcade to reach the White House.
The inaccuracy of the initial report of the accident, an electronic alert to leadership attributing it to a "mechanical failure" rather than the Secret Service agent driving the SUV hitting a curb, caused Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle, who has been on the job for about a month, to be disturbed but was relieved after receiving a fuller account later in the day, a source told the news outlet.
Video posted to TikTok appears to show Harris's motorcade.

“During a protective movement Monday, a vehicle in a motorcade had a minor overcorrection and struck a curb,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told the Washington Post. “The protectee was transferred to a secondary vehicle, and the motorcade continued to its destination. There were no injuries to anyone.”
A spokeswoman for Harris confirmed that she sustained no injuries in the incident and took the opportunity to express her gratitude to the Secret Service.

I thought they arranged a “tragic accident,” but it seems they either didn’t have enough sense to do that much, or they flubbed it. She lives.

SS drivers do not swerve into concrete walls, unless there is a reason. It was at a very vulnerable place, the mouth of a tunnel. Maybe someone dropped a cinder block from over head or something.Maybe one of the illegal immigrants who showed up at the Naval Observatory?
