Vladimir Putin can call up all the troops he wants, but Russia has no way of getting those new troops the training and weapons they need to fight in Ukraine any time soon.
With his invasion of Ukraine faltering badly, the Russian President on Wednesday announced the immediate “partial mobilization” of Russian citizens. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Russian television that the country will call up 300,000 reservists.
If they end up facing Ukrainian guns on the front lines, they are likely to become the newest casualties in the invasion Putin started more than seven months ago and that has seen the Russian military fail at almost every aspect of modern war.

From reports provided here at FR, it seems the US has sent a lot of LNG to Europe. Several weeks ago, one comment said that Germany had 85% of their terget for November already. Also, on LNG producer in Texas is due to be back on line in a few weeks. Anyone have more info?

Sure, but India went on record as not supporting Biden’s sanctions, is buying Russian oil at a discount, and has been loading up on Russian arms for years. He knows which side his bread is buttered on….otherwise, why did he just participate in joint Russian/ Indian war games? …( and China to).

On mobilization in Russia
One of my friends got mobilized recently. He’s a mobile gamedev and a conscientious objector. So he tried to flee his city (Petrozavodsk) and drove to the nearest border (of Kazakhstan) but the seemingly endless traffic jam made him return in despair.
That’s how they caught him and transported to the nearest voenkomat. He couldn’t believe his eyes. There was a WW2 veteran standing in line as a volunteer. Soldiers were given out vatniks sheathed in camo print. Boots with so many holes that they looked like crocs and kits with personal hygiene items that included condoms. Yes, condoms. A Russian analogue of Durex - Gusarskiye so naturally they were also peppered w/ holes - a point of hearty laughter of everyone involved
They were to be transported in cargo section of an old Soviet plane to Ukraine.
They were allowed to “relax” for a few hours before that - i.e get drunk/high out of their minds and listen to the instructions of the Politruk who riled them up by talking about beauty of the Ukrainian woman and prosperity of the average household.
The tattered drunks of all ages were all ears. “Listen up, scum. You’re about to fly first class to a western democracy. So do what you do best: destroy their livelihoods and make them pay for being better than us. We will defile their land because we can. First and foremost, we are Eurasianists. It seems those with no military experience are the loudest critics when it comes to military matters.
He regularly posts criticisms of Ukrainian movements and advancements, yet says an obvious rout or defeat of Russian forces is actually some brilliant chess move, or some similar description. It’s one thing to cheer for one side or the other, but don’t criticize tactical moves unless you have a clue as to what the forces are actually doing, and why they are doing it.
And the really childish name-calling and innuendoes are clearly his attempt to distract from his ignorance. That is fourth-grade stuff. Call someone a moron, that’s fine; call someone clueless, that’s fine. But some of his stuff is laughably juvenile. I mean, grow up, Kiryandil.
