The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. These boxes are useful as predictors of hurricanes that will strike South Florida. For more information about Hebert's Boxes, see Hebert Box. See graphic below which illustrated the Hebert's Boxes.

During Harvey I saw that the wind had picked up and relocated some gators. Like “Sharknado” except it was “gatornado”.
” People so often focus on the eyewall, and forget the tornadic risk in the NE quadrant outside the eyewall.”
Excellent point. Ryan Hall’s youtube channel is reporting all tornado warnings and there have been at least 3-4 in last 20 minutes.
He just stated that he is committed to reporting all tornado warnings for the same reason you just stated.
“I hope they evacuate the nursing homes and assisted living places in time.”
I really hope a lot of that was done. 🙏🙏
Oh, it’s not hurricanes that have changed Florida, for the most part, though with Sanibel and a few other places, it’s true. It was “progress” that changed it. I guess that’s the natural course of things though. Change is inevitable. It’s pretty constant, too. We only notice when we look away, and then look back.
Your Right—I have never lived though a hurricane—But I have though several huge Earthquakes here in California. Your right to point out I should just turn the station or watch an old movie if I dislike the endless coverage of the Florida Storm. I understand and apologize to those suffering in Florida. Unlike Florida, that has a Governor who cares, in California we have one that doesn’t give a Rat’s arse about the people of his state.
Visions of Katrina and Rita 😢

Apology accepted.

I’m speaking only for last night - but TWC was reporting a number of tornado warnings on the Atlantic side, primarily around Palm Beach and inland. There were a few on eastern Collier county too.
111 mph winds definitely get your attention. Scary time.
Jeff is back again. For as long as it lasts

RARE* first person view of storm surge. This camera is 6 feet off the ground on Estero Blvd in Fort Myers Beach, FL. Not sure how much longer it keeps working. You’ll see it live only on

OMG.
Apparently Cuba was hit hard but haven’t found a lot of detail. Puerto Rico (politicians) have been given a lot of money. They will be great because a Democrat is in the WH.
Prayer for any souls in those buildings.
I was in the process of selling the house here and buying a beachfront house in the last remaining scrap of Old Florida left just before Covid hit. At the time, I could have bought that house with money left over. But I got sidetracked by a family illness. Now the house here is about to close at double what it would have brought pre-Covid, but waterfront houses there are quadruple the price before Covid :(
Not sure what to do now. I was hoping WFH would go away after Covid, but alas. Then I hoped Ian would hit there and scare off the Yankees, but no. Yes, I know it was selfish of me to hope that, but ... Ian would have weakened considerably had it hit there, so ... Okay, yes, I am guilty :(
Old Florida was very cool. And you knew the worse a seafood dive looked on the outside, the better the food would be :)
Unreal.
Here is a time-lapse of the #StormSurge coming in on Sanibel Island, #Florida caught on a live traffic cam. This was only 30mins condensed down, it deteriorated quickly. 😬 #HurricaneIan #Hurricane #Ian pic.twitter.com/JKuNROvMm4— BirdingPeepWx (@BirdingPeepWx) September 28, 2022
There is no power in Cuba right now. No communication.
