The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. These boxes are useful as predictors of hurricanes that will strike South Florida. For more information about Hebert's Boxes, see Hebert Box. See graphic below which illustrated the Hebert's Boxes.

If you recall, Irma came across PR and north of Hispanola, stalled over the Keys and headed north up the middle of the state. We were ~50 miles west of the eye as it went up the middle of the state. Went without power for a week, but considering we were in a wood frame structure at the time, we were lucky.
This one has our attention. We’re much better prepared, and our property will be ready.

Thanks for posting the mesmerizing windy graphic. 2005 Hurricane Wilma was an unusual, record-breaking storm. It parked over the Yucatan Peninsula (dropping 64 inches of rain) before heading east across So. FL with a huge eye 55-65 miles across.

Herbert's Box? Well, at least it's not Dilbert's Box. That would be catastrophic.

As I leave for Florida on Saturday for a week long, much needed vacation, I’ve been monitoring this website. https://spaghettimodels.com/
This guy also has a YouTube discussion daily. If it’s a greater than a cat 2 I’m heading back home early. Bringing my chainsaw and extra gas just in case.

The current forecast track is strikingly similar to 2004 Hurricane Charley.

New model runs have it curving into south FL below Tampa, but it’s a week away, so stay tuned...

Watching carefully. We were under evacuation orders for 2004 Hurricane Charley when it suddenly turned NE and struck Punta Gorda. Those poor folks were unprepared, thinking it would pass them by and directly strike Tampa Bay.

Trial run to see if our fairly new double pane Hurricane windows work!
We have had so much rain the past few weeks I wonder if our area can sustain a hurricane.
