Our pets are part of the climate problem. These tips can help you minimize their carbon pawprints
CNN ^ | September 15, 2022 | By Kimberly Richardson

CNN - Our four-legged friends don’t drive gas-guzzling SUVs or use energy-sucking appliances, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a climate impact. In fact, researchers have showed that pets play a significant role in the climate crisis.

But what do Barkley and Whiskers have to do with our warming planet? It’s the products we buy for them that need a closer look.

Their meat-heavy diet is the biggest contributor to their carbon pawprints, which requires an abundance of energy, land and water to produce. And the production of pet food emits huge amounts of planet-warming gases.

According to a 2017 study, feeding dogs and cats creates the equivalent of around 64 million tons of carbon dioxide in the US each year. That’s roughly the same impact as 13.6 million cars on the road. And, if our furry friends formed a separate country, it would rank 5th in global meat consumption behind China, the US, Brazil and Russia, according to UCLA professor and author of that study Gregory Okin.

But don’t panic. Bidding farewell to your best friends is not the answer.

This article makes it clear that the Leftists are incapable of appreciating any joy in life.

They also can’t tolerate the fact that dogs exemplify LOYALTY, a trait completely foreign to the Left.

Running articles like this drivel is why CNN is a losing proposition.

I think I’ll give Lancelot Wigglesworth-Wiener (no relation to Anthony), Dachshund Supreme, an extra helping of meat-based products tonight!

And BTW, CNN moron author, turtles are a reservoir for Salmonella.

OK, now we have to kill the dogs and cats to keep the oceans from rising. The sun god demands a sacrifice!

“...researchers have showed that pets play a significant role in the climate crisis...”

OK. Let’s see some of that research. I declare it utter BS until I see these cretins come up with some peer reviewed research by real competent scientists ... not some fools with Environmental or Gender studies degrees.

You know where they are always headed once they start on something. All the way to eventual confiscation. There’s no right to a pet in the Constitution.

They are demons taking over the weak. This is a spiritual war. They are filled with death, arrogance and hate.

“Cobalt for their EVs”

They’ve got no problem with little kids spending their childhood digging up and sorting the cobalt ore instead of going to school either.

I hauled bulk meat and bone meal from the processor to pet food plants for about 4 yrs, 24 tons at a time, hauled in a high side grain hopper bottom. Meat and bone is cooked down and ground up into powder. The grease and oils are also processed. Much of it going into pet foods.

These were mostly retired dairy, beef, and pork breeding stock. Not fit for grocery meat aisle.

Same thing with poultry.

One day rolling east on I-74 in IL, another driver asked on the cb what I was hauling: corn, soybeans, wheat?

I said: Dead animals.

There was some silence, then he said: Say that again?

I explained the process. He had no idea.

“Their meat-heavy diet is the biggest contributor to their carbon pawprints...”

You’re not getting around that, leftards. Cats and dogs are what is known in biology as “obligate carnivores”. They have adapted since domestication to digest other foods to some degree, but they aren’t going to survive without a large portion of their diet deriving from animals.

Yeah, my dog would catch a bug on the wing for fun, but then he’d spit it out.
