King Charles III was officially proclaimed Britain’s monarch Saturday in a pomp-filled ceremony steeped in ancient tradition and political symbolism — and, for the first time, broadcast live online and on air.
Scores of senior British politicians past and present, including new Prime Minister Liz Truss and five of her predecessors, gathered in the ornate state apartments at St. James’s Palace for the meeting of the Accession Council. They met without Charles, officially confirming his title, King Charles III. The king then joined them, vowing to follow his mother’s “inspiring example” as he took on the duties of monarch. The new king formally approved a series of orders — including one declaring the day of his mother’s funeral a public holiday. The date of the state funeral has not been announced, but it is expected to be around Sept. 19.
This is the first time the accession ceremony has been held since 1952, when Queen Elizabeth II took the throne.

CS Lewis once said that if people are denied the opportunity to honour a King they will instead honour famous millionaires and celebrities, even notorious prostitutes or gangsters, because of their need to look up to someone, and that a body that is starved of food will instead gobble poison.
Looking at American society today and its worship of various degenerate Hollywood celebrities who offer nothing but self indulgence and narcissism instead of duty and service, it’s hard to see he was wrong.
That people accept the concept of a king in 2022 makes me sad.
He is just an old guy, whose family has conned people for centuries.
100% agree! I am generally, a Monarchist, my ancestors being United Empire Loyalist. In that ‘little tussle’ of 1775-1783, they sided with the wrong George, the Hanoverian, rather than that Washington fellow. Of course, they lost all their land, and barely escaped with their lives to Nova Scotia.
I admired HM Queen Elizabeth II VERY much, particularly her faith in Jesus. Limited in what she could say, and to whom, she did an amazing job of sharing ‘her Light’ to the world, in spite of such restrictions.
I am willing to give King Charles III the benefit of the doubt. He has said some rather silly and wrong headed things in the past. Perhaps Camilla is what he needs to smarten him up. Only time will tell. Unfortunately, I don’t hold out too much hope, and expect to soon no longer be a Monarchist. That is all up to King Charles III’s words and actions.
Do not agree that the queen was anything more than an ordinary woman.
The Monarch is a huge income producer for the people - when you consider it a tourist attraction, producer and such - plus the peoples affection in having it you better understand why it has stood the test of time.
I think Charles will do OK because of William and Kate - the people there are really looking forward to when they assume the titles down the road.
The only King I need is King Jesus!
Yours is a lovely heartfelt response
Don’t you know his mother prayed for him always……
God turns the direction of men’s hearts
I believe he feels the weight of that crown and what it meant to his mother.
May God bless King Charles!
Examine the coat of arms.

I consider British royalty a tourist attraction. If it were not for all the money they bring in as a tourist attraction, parliament would’ve probably downplayed them years ago.
Possibly - however as we see in these Royal Displays and events surrounding this transition the public supports having a Royal Family and all it’s operations. as well the Parliament.
This is after all a thread of Queen Elizabeths death and Charles transitioning to King Charles the lll. It’s a very historical event and worthy of our respect that we are watching history in the making.
Sounds like Harry is oh-so-graciously giving his father a chance to become a new man:

Yet even with royalty British society does the same thing.
But the Royal Family offers a superior alternative. You can criticise the faults of the Royals, and there are many, but they have redeeming qualities that most Hollywood celebs lack, such as a devotion to public duty and patriotism. There has been a rise in celeb culture in the UK certainly, which has not coincidentally risen in tandem with the decline in respect for the monarchy, which is why it is going to be the job of the new King to provide that alternative and to be seen to do his best to live up to the duty that has been placed on his shoulders.
A big AMEN! Soon...Revelation 19:11-16, Romans 14:11. :)
Well look at that ...... they gave him a users manual !
Just listened to the Pastor’s message where King Charles attends a service of reflection at St Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast Ireland.
Wow!.... Very moving regarding Reconciliation - worthy of a listen - you could have droppd a pin as people listened and were very attentive. All heads were up!
Scotland did an outstanding work in every respect in seeing off the Queen. My gosh they hit every note and will be a hard act to follow in London. I suspect if the Queen had of seen this sendoff she would have been greatly pleased! Everything was picture perfect and the sermons were heartfelt and significant.
