Republican lawmakers have been quick to slam President Joe Biden's recent student-loan forgiveness announcement — and Democrats aren't letting it slide.

On Wednesday, Biden announced up to $20,000 in student-loan forgiveness for Pell Grant recipients making under $125,000 a year, and $10,000 for other federal borrowers within the same income cap. While this was a long-awaited policy that many Democrats were waiting for the president to implement, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was not thrilled with the expansive relief.

Next time I find someone who needs an explanation of college expenses from a child's point of view I'll refer them to warren.

We are lower middle class, I worked my tail off to get my daughter through college without debt, taking no loans and received no financial assistance. I loathe these liberals.

What was Warren’s salary for the one class she taught ? Might be part of the reason why schools are so expensive

How does what is cost then compare to now? If anything it shows how expensive education has become and it was too high.

I went to Hendrix College in Arkansas, considered a very good school, I think it was $1800 a semester when I went, something like that. Now it is $60,000 a year and 99% of the students are on Loans to go, even well to do families can’t afford the place and it is not worth the price.

Someone please explain how a university that has a >$40 billion endowment, and that is earning millions in investment income, can be a not-for-profit and enjoy the tax implications of that designation?

And, how said institutions can charge tons of money for tuition, while those of us who pay our income taxes are being soaked for loan forgiveness for debt incurred going to those institutions?

Only in the brain of a liberal can this make any sense.

Elizabeth "Liawatha" Warren's idea of "educational fairness" involves stealing a scholarship from a native American as well as stealing an academic job from a native American by fraudulently posing as a Native American.

...a Democrat stealing from someone else...

YES!

I was going to mention Liz Warren was paid $150,000 for developing and teaching a single economics course at Harvard University.

That’s 3 years pay for the American working class, who are now going to have to pay the upper middle classes’ student loans forgiveness.

What a country! For the Elites, anyway.

Seldom mentioned in these articles are options that used to be popular:
a. Community college the first two years;
b. College part time - work in AM, college in PM or;
c. College part time - work in PM, college in AM or;
d. Work full time, college part time;
e. Work full time until you could pay for a semester or
full year ... repeat until done;
f. Attend Berea College or service academies;
g. Scholarships, grants (By the way, are Pell Grants not grants? It used to be that grants did not need to be repayed; they were GRANTS.)

And Liawatha,the fake Indian who got her gig at Harvard by lying about her ancestry,was paid $300,000 a year by Harvard for teaching one course. She she can spare us the lectures about her morality...and anything else.

She is the living embodiment of the old saying "the more loudly he spoke of his honor the more closely we counted the spoons".

I’m about fifteen younger than Mitch, but I went to a better private Midwestern university from 1975-1979. My first year was $2000 for tuition (I lived at home) and my last year was $2500. Most of that was covered by scholarships. My parents paid the rest. If I hadn’t had the scholarships, I would have gone to a state university.

Today, the tuition alone there is $58,000.

When Mitch and I went to college has nothing to do with fairness. It’s just what it is.

If they want to look into something, maybe they should investigate why the costs of a college education have increased that much, nearly 30 times in the case of my old school.

I wish adults would teach kids about consequences for actions.. or responsibility for your actions.

You know how to teach it?..let them succeed or fail on a venture.. and if it gets hard.. let them tough it out.. keep an eye, but the experience is the teacher.

Forgiving student loans.. en mass.. is not helping... and Joe biden does not ever aim to help anyone but himself.
He does this for a few and leaves the ones who paid it off.. not pleased.
If you want a bad outcome.. put a democrat in charge. They have no sense because their goal is self.

“”Senator McConnell graduated from a school that cost $330 a year,” Warren wrote on Twitter on Thursday. “Today it costs over $12,000.”

So Warren’s answer is to fuel inflation even more by going into debt to pay off student loans!! Stupidity on display.

Things change. Also back then most people did not take six or more years to finish a four year program and they majored in the sciences or language arts, not women studies and thus could get employment. Also people did not think everyone needed a masters or higher degree or believe they were entitled victims. Mitch can speak on this even if his college was $5.00 because he likely has grand or great-grandchildren or nephews/nieces and that would be a better comparison to make. Weak argument Liz. Go back to school, be better, after all, it won’t cost you anything.

Also back then a bachelor's degree in anything other than pharmacy could be completed in four years at "full load" of 15 credits (plus P.E.) per semester because the core curriculum wasn't bloated with "gender studies"; "LGBTQ history"; "Equity" and other bull$hit.

According to the Internet, $330 in 1964 is equal to $9,200 in 2022.

Not that far off from the $12,000 she talks about today.
