Just days after Democrats passed a sweeping law that mandates "green energy" policies and spends a whopping $370 billion on wind, solar and "carbon sequestration" in an effort to "slow climate change," America's largest state is about to up the ante with a unprecedented move.
California on Thursday is expected to put into effect its sweeping plan to prohibit the sale of new gasoline-powered cars by 2035, a stunning move to force a national mandate for electric vehicles.
The move comes despite critics warning that the state's power grid could not even power 10% of its cars being electric, let alone 100%.
And just months ago, California utilities operators had to beg residents to avoid charging electric cars amid power grid strain during a heat wave.
Liberals however, are ecstatic over the move:
“This is huge,” said Margo Oge, an electric vehicles expert who headed the Environmental Protection Agency’s transportation emissions program under Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. “California will now be the only government in the world that mandates zero-emission vehicles. It is unique.”

The rule, issued by the California Air Resources Board, will require that 100 percent of all new cars sold in the state by 2035 be free of the fossil fuel emissions chiefly responsible for warming the planet, up from 12 percent today. It sets interim targets requiring that 35 percent of new passenger vehicles sold in the state by 2026 produce zero emissions. That would climb to 68 percent by 2030.
The restrictions are important because not only is California the largest auto market in the United States, but more than a dozen other states typically follow California’s lead when setting their own auto emissions standards.

It won’t “destroy” the state, but it will hurt its economy, badly. It is the usual out of touch madness.

It seems the people of California could stop all of this if they wanted to.
It ain’t gonna happen. They are running a train off the rails.
Unenforceable and never going to happen.
All the perps will be out of office by then, so just shrug “We tried!”.
If they actually did try to force this the push-back might get ugly.
Auto sales are a huge tax base item.
No sales = no tax, no tax means more new taxes.
There is a point of resistance.
So maybe the libs begin losing around 2030?

Every state should fast track these issues while it's a friendly court.
If I lived in Crazifornia and didn’t, up till now, have a reason to leave those crazy people; them banning all gas powered automobiles and thereby forcing people to buy those electric cars or hit the shoe leather express, I would certainly leave now for sure. Any one who thinks that wind and solar power is going to be enough to power ANY COUNTRY needs to be up in the trees with the rest of the squirrels.

The strategy is to keep the serfs inside their village limits or, even, on their own property...
After taking away serf transportation/mobility, next is to restrict the internet to government business only...

Seems they want to build in neighboring states what is already banned in their own.
We shot down one such ugly installation in Douglas County NV a few years ago.
If these solar farms, towers, arrays, etc. are really SO wonderful they shoud be required to build them in their own state.
Probably, but there's no doubt they are plain ignorant of the facts surrounding the viability of electric vehicles. Also, the CA tree-huggers are going to wish they hadn't killed all power plant construction projects for the past three decades.

Banning the sales should elicit a big yawn. Auto sales in neighboring states would skyrocket. Now banning the USE of ICE cars is a whole other matter, but if that happens expect Cali to go more nuts than it is.
