Biden called in FBI to look at first haul of classified Trump documents

The Biden administration sicced the FBI on 15 boxes containing classified information that the National Archives retrieved from Mar-a-Lago earlier this year — escalating the investigation of former President Donald Trump for allegedly mishandling secret government information, a newly published letter reveals.

The May 10 missive by Acting Archivist Debra Steidel Wall to Trump attorney Evan Corcoran — published late Monday by JustTheNews — confirms that the White House counsel’s office, “affirming a request from the Department of Justice supported by an FBI letterhead memorandum,” asked the National Archives on April 11 to “provide the FBI access to the 15 boxes for its review within seven days.”

In response, according to Wall, Trump’s legal team sought to delay the disclosure until April 29.

On that date, JustTheNews reported, Corcoran wrote to National Archives general counsel Gary Stern requesting the handover be further held up “until we have had the opportunity to review the documents and to consult with President Donald J. Trump so that he may personally make any decision to assert a claim of constitutionally based privilege.”

In the May 10 letter, Wall rejected that claim, writing that Supreme Court precedent “strongly suggests that a former President may not successfully assert executive privilege ‘against the very Executive Branch in whose name the privilege is invoked.'”

Wall added that the Justice Department “has advised me that there is no precedent for an assertion of executive privilege by a former President against an incumbent President to prevent the latter from obtaining … Presidential records belonging to the Federal Government where ‘such records contain information that is needed for the conduct of current business of the incumbent President’s office and that is not otherwise available.'”

Currently what could they do? Impeachment without the 2/3’rds to convict in the Senate means nothing. It is a ‘public’ act of political impotence. Besides without House control they can’t even do impeachment.

If they get the House and Senate after midterms they could do impeachment but again without the 2/3rds the public will view it as a waste of time and money.

They could do Congressional “investigations”, then what refer the ‘findings’ to DOJ? We haven’t had a properly functioning DOJ in 14 years. Congress does not prosecute that’s an executive function. Their only recourse is “investigate” and ‘shame’ the ‘unshameable’ - the Rats. The only recourse is “investigate” and generate bad publicity for the Rats to set up 2024. Then hope the ‘spectacle’ does backfire negatively due to a fickle apolitical public

It's either there, or it isn't.

It never has been "there". Possibly an application for late registration birth certificate was there but never acted upon. Because it was not fully completed.

We all know he is a B_tard.

We cannot simultaneously argue that Biden is mentally unfit for office due to early onset of dementia and then declare he is the mastermind behind this plot to use the DOJ/FBI to destroy Trump. The first level of people appointed in his administration are all radical extremists who worship at the alter of St. Obama. These are the people calling the shots, likely being directed by Obama. Biden simply nods his head and reads the cue cards.

The birth certificate probably was microfilmed and the original tossed.

The microfilm roll should still exist.

A microfilm roll (with say 500 contemporaneous birth certificates) made in say the 1960s when Barack was a unimportant kid would be good quality evidence of Obama’s birth in Hawaii.

No. The Constutution is a living document which dynamically changes to always favor how a Leftist udhe desires to apply it to specific insurances. For the Leftist judge really has contempt for what it actually means.

By federal law a copy of each document must be preserved.

It is quite likely that in 2025 a President DeSantis can have them stamped declassified and released for publication.

An official federal document calling Kim a ‘rocket boy’ may be “sensitive”, but that’s not something anyone would consider secret.

The federal government should have already had a copy of each document taken from Trump.

There was no need to snatch Trump’s copies.

The birth certificate microfilm roll should be in the possession of the State of Hawaii.

Obama might have a paper copy his mom probably got after he was born.

Paper copies might exist from school enrollment and passport application.

Why did they need the records for government business?
That business can’t be to hide criminal behavior from the FBI or from a former Vice President. That business can’t be to limit civil liability for illegal behavior. That isn’t legal, or it least it didn’t used to be.

Basically, since the records were 100% digital, and ALL those records and images were available to the government, it’s a LIE to say they needed them to conduct government business.

They needed those records to prevent Trump from exposing them in civil court and to the public. That is a non-starter for broad “search and seizures”. They (Biden, democrats, DOJ and FBI ect.) know this already. However it scored big points with the Trump haters. Democrats love Fascism as long as they are running it.

What did Biden ‘really’ know about the drive to raid Mar-a-Lago?
By Post Editorial Board
August 23, 2022 6:54pm Updated

A newly-released letter shows that President Joe Biden knew Attorney General Merrick Garland had authorized the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.

The official line spun by the White House is that President Joe Biden and his staff had no clue Attorney General Merrick Garland had authorized the armed FBI raid on ex-Prez Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home until after it actually happened.

But it turns out they at least enabled and knew about the ongoing investigation.

A now-public May 10 letter to Team Trump from acting National Archivist Debra Steidel Wall notes that the president’s counsel had told her: “President Biden defers to my determination” on respecting Trump’s claims of executive privilege in retaining various documents — and that she had “decided not to honor” those claims.

She adds: “NARA will provide the FBI access to the records in question, as requested by the incumbent President.”

That is, Biden told the National Archives and Records Administration, or NARA, it could go ahead demand more documents. Is that really the last time the White House got involved?

Wall’s letter led to a June meeting where Trump’s aides handed the FBI a bunch of documents, on top of the January handover of other docs.

The many mysteries here include: Why exactly did Garland then go for the raid, when Trump had been turning over docs regularly?

How did NARA get involved in the first place? The DC Circuit Court of Appeals ruled back in 2012: “NARA does not have the authority to designate materials as presidential records, and NARA lacks any right, duty, or means to seize control of them.”

Above all else, what the heck is in the documents? Unless and until the public gets some hard facts that justify the raid, it’s supposed to just trust an AG who at White House request has sicced the FBI on parents who speak out at school-board meetings?

Meanwhile, the Justice Department is arguing in public to keep everything secret. But the AG’s minions are constantly leaking anonymously (and thus unverifiably) about parts of the case to friendly media. One day they float a claim that nuclear secrets are at stake, another day a count of 300-plus total “secret” docs that the FBI has now taken.

The New York Times reported back in April that Biden has been telling his aides that he wants Garland to indict Trump for something. That doesn’t help us believe the White House’s official “we know nothing” stance, but maybe this anonymous leak was enough to ensure the AG would know his boss’ wishes.
