In a major upset victory for President Joe Biden's party, New York Democratic official Pat Ryan narrowly beat Republican Marc Molinaro in a race that remained in a dead heat nearly until midnight on Wednesday.
*** The special election for New York's 19th Congressional District had for weeks been viewed as a likely Republican victory, with polls even days before Election Day projecting Molinaro in the lead. The swing district voted for Barack Obama in 2012, Trump in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020. *** The Hudson Valley race was also being watched as a possible bellwether for November's midterm elections - where likewise Republicans had been expected to win the majority in the House.
But projections were upended after the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade in June sent an unprecedented shockwave through midterm voters across the nation.
The Democratic executive of Ulster County, Pat Ryan, has largely focused his campaign on the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade an the subsequent rollback of abortion rights seen across the country.
Ryan ran his campaign largely on the rollback of abortion rights, while Molinaro focused on the economic burden everyday Americans are feeling under record inflation and a sinking stock market. Ryan defeated Molinaro 51.3% to 48.7%, with 99% of the vote counted.

Voters in deep-red Kansas bucked expectations when they turned out in droves last month to reject a proposal that would have stripped abortion protections out of their state constitution.
*** But a growing number of public opinion polls show that the Supreme Court overturning Roe may be a significant enough factor to shake up this year's races.

The district voted for Obama, then Trump, then Biden. It sounds like they don’t know what they want. I suspect that many Republican voters just stayed home and the Dems came out from under their rocks and turned defeat into victory.
Molinario wad. But the New York voter rolls are completely fraudulent and it’s proven. The system is programmed to grab Dem voters from the 3-8 million fraudulent voters on New York’s roll. Throw out results New York as being a factor.

I’m listening to Fredericks and others and just laughing. It’s proven what a clown show it all is. New York elections are proven to be completely fraudulent. They control every outome..and it’s proven.

Marc Elias must have been working overtime there. He’s the Democrat’s fixer for elections.
I am calling it now. GOP will NOT win the house or senate and may actually end up worse off. Most of the big candidates suck. And after 50 years the red states had no plan for Roe actually falling and instead have managed to piss off almost everyone. It is the usual GOP clusterf%^K.
If the voters preferred someone that likes to kill babies then it shows how far people have fallen in their morals. The Rats will take this as a winning formula and the Republicants better fight back. May I suggest showing videos of babies being aborted? May as well go for broke.
