The daughter of an ultranationalist Russian ideologue believed to have had a strong influence on Vladimir Putin has been killed in a car bomb on the outskirts of Moscow, according to multiple media reports. Darya Dugin, daughter of Russian political commentator Alexander Dugin – dubbed “Putin’s brain” – died when the Toyota Land Cruiser she was driving was ripped apart by a powerful explosion about 20km west of the capital at around 9.30pm local time. The blast occurred near the village of Bolshiye Vyazemy, according to Russian media sites Baza and 112, and state-owned Novaya Gazeta. Witnesses said debris was thrown all over the road as the car was engulfed in flames before crashing into a fence, according to reports. Emergency services said there had been one person in the car and that they died at the scene. Andrey Krasnov, a friend of Dugina and the head of the Russian Horizon social movement, confirmed the reports, according to the news agency Tass. He said that the bomb could have been intended for her father.

It’s wrong to place the blame on the Ukraine at this point,
and I think any reasoned person would share that thought.

Bringing up the topic of Zelensky’s kids being the next
targets, is so uncalled for. It’s just demented.

The persons who arranged this and pulled it off, should
bear the penalty for what they did.

Their children shouldn’t.

Steve Bannon said he thinks this assassination attempt was a combined effort by the Ukrainians and CIA.

I felt sorry for her too - at first. Then I read she was Russia’s Liz Cheney, fully in support of her father’s war propaganda, and felt a little less sorry.

In Putin’s Russia, assassinations are the “norm”.

Many people in business in Russia are upset about lost revenues and businesses.

I think so. Zelinsky’s kid will now travel under the name, Elizabeth Cheney, and get a blonde wig and glasses

That’s quite perverted logic. Why a person upset with war needs to target the obscure historian better known in the West than at home? A person upset with war is likely a pacifist and they aren’t killing people.

Some suggestions are going around on Telegram that Darya Dugina and her father had been guests of honour at some event and their home had been targeted; her father got out of her car and jumped into a different vehicle with a fellow Rashist philosopher. She carried on driving the first car.

If all of that is true, then the target clearly would’ve been a twofer - either people close to Dugin or aware of his movements that evening hedged their bets to hit the house AND the car.

For that reason, it’s already started to send the conspiracy theorists inside Russia into a frenzy. And they’re predictably tasteless. Even after you filter out the arguments over whether or not it was Ukraine wot did it, and how they should be punished.

A quick sample of what I’ve read in the context of this being a bit more close to home:

Isn’t it convenient that minutes after the switcheroo, the attractive one in the family’s in flames and the Rasputin 2 is not even singed?

If he thought his car was being targeted or was wired to blow, why not switch his daughter out as well?

What’s with Dugin’s theatrical Kevin McAllister impression on the on-scene video, and why is he looking at a fire engine? Are we even sure his daughter was in the car and this isn’t an elaborate setup?

Why is he not looking at the first responders, his daughter’s car, or his daughter (assuming the blurred thing in the video, behind him, and nowhere near the inferno of the car, is his daughter)? Is that fire engine interesting for a reason?

Something rather similar happened in the run-up to Chechnya Round 2...

There’s a lot of people in Russia with Ukrainian roots or conscripts in the Russian army who’ve lost people in this war that Dugin’s been a cheerleader for for over 25 years. Could be any of them.

And this one’s already doing the rounds...

“Dugin’s parked car was under active security prior to the car bomb detonating... Only Russian security services could have accessed the car while it was parked such as FSB, GRU, FSO, etc.”

Speculation that some faction inside the security services is sending messages out to the Rossiya 1 TV hawks, and anyone else getting too uppity, that if they keep talking up genocide they’re going to have heated seat retrofits in their cars, or visits to the Moscow sky via a seventh story window.

The Dugins were both feted for their brilliance in not just openly self-identifying as fascists wanting a restoration of the Russian empire, but also helping to define - very publicly - “what good looks like” in the context of the rape and genocide of the untermensch that is the people of Ukraine.

A new regime that is looking for a way to end the Special Military Operation, can’t afford to have people like that bending the ears of the Russian people or the military.

This incident could be the precursor to some internal battles inside the structures of power INSIDE Russia.

It’s always the husband ... or some other relative. At the last second switches cars right before it blows up?

In Putin’s Russia, assassinations are the “norm”.

People are forgetting all the Russian businessmen who suddenly killed themselves, all of whom were associated with the Russian state-owned energy giant Gazprom or one of its subsidiaries.

At least five Russian businessmen have died by apparent suicide in just three months

The CIA ordered an assassination strike in the suburbs of Moscow, in Russian territory.

The KGB now have the moral authority to do the same in Washington DC.

Russians have been involved in this kind of intrigue since time immemorial.
Before the war, a spate of Russian bankers died.
One, supposedly killed his wife and children, then himself.
One supposedly hung himself.
Another threw himself out a window.
Sad to see the Putin pom pom shakers outraged by this, but have no problem with the Russians slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent Ukrainian women and children.

“It is not likely that the Ukraine did it.

It is a possibility, and probably has less weight than a
Russian having been upset with the war and doing it”

True.

“What level of cynicism Putin and the FSB has now reached in relation to their own supporters!

They killed the daughter, Daria Dugina, of Putin’s chief ideologist and fierce hater of Ukraine, in order to mobilize far-right Putin supporters after the 6-month total failure of the war against Ukraine.

This kind of an action is effective against high-ranking military officials, war criminals, secretaries, developers of new dangerous weapons, terrorists. For Ukraine to waste energy, resources and valuable agents on a third-tier level is completely pointless.

Who benefited from an attempt to kill her father?

1- The main beneficiaries are of course Putin and the FSB to use for propaganda obvious: divert the audience’s attention from the complete failure of the so-called “svo”, which began as a “victory march” on Kyiv and ends with the daily air defense operation in the deep back of the Russians.

2- Obviously, the same brutal massacre awaits high-ranking military commanders and intelligence officers who were preparing a failed offensive. They will be blown up, shot and blamed Ukraine for it, trying to maintain Russians support hatred and support for this invasion of Ukraine.”

“1. We don’t know this wasn’t a Russian who was upset with
the war. Why should Zelensky’s family be targeted if that
is so?
2. This was not Putin’s daughter. Why would you seek to
target the Ukraine president’s family?”

The facts don’t matter. It’s about the spin. I think it probably was a Russian, but if Putin/Russian media spin it against Zelensky, then Zelensky and his close advisers should take extra care

“This incident could be the precursor to some internal battles inside the structures of power INSIDE Russia.”

Once again your wisdom does not disappoint!

BTW, did you see this post:
“The photo for the story on this thread goes back to 2019 if not earlier. Reverse image searches are useful.

From Kamil Galeev’s twitter feed, there is this video which is all there is to show for now. All that shows is a burning car, behind a emergency vehicle, across a two lane road, at night.

The only reliable information available is Dugin’s daughter was in a car crash. We know nothing else for sure.

With everything that is going on, it is fair to say suspicions may be realistically roused that Ukraine had something to do with this.

Probably CIA. This incident, whoever is responsible, may set off an ugly retaliation to someone very soon.
