Maher: Some Increased IRS Funding Will Be Used to Audit Middle-Class
Breitbart ^ | 08/19/2022 | Ian hatchett

Posted on 08/20/2022 7:46:32 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

During the Overtime segment of Friday’s broadcast of “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said that some of the increased funding for the IRS in the Inflation Reduction Act will be used to audit middle-class taxpayers.

While discussing Washington Post columnist, CNN Contributor, and “PBS NewsHour” Special Correspondent Catherine Rampell’s recent tour of an IRS facility and the problems the agency has with processing tax returns due to outdated technology, Maher said, “This bill that Biden signed this week has $80 billion…that’s what it’s for, right? It’s $80 billion to the IRS. Now, of course, the Republicans are saying, you’re going to use this money to blah, blah, blah, blah.”

You could confiscate all the wealth of all our billionaires and not be able to run our bloated government for a week!

The old saying goes “Can’t get blood from a turnip but they can sure stomp the hell out of the Greens” that is what the IRS is going to do...I have been pondering it might be a wiser move just to stop filing..File and then they have you as when you sign you are swearing an oath...this is the oath “I solemnly swear (or affirm) that the foregoing return, to the best of my knowledge and belief, contains a true and complete statement of
all gains, profits, and income received by or accrued to me during the year for which the return is made, and that I am entitled to all the deductions
and exemptions entered or claimed therein, under the Federal Income-tax Law.”

to be considered ‘rich’ in the US today, you have to be in the top 20% of earners.

which would require you to make $100k/yr.

yup... you’re ‘rich’ if you’re making $100k.

and the democrat-IRS is targeting YOU

Basically, a dictatorship is being imposed (or rather, the last steps in creating a dictatorship are being imposed) on us.

And, as per the usual attribution:

In 1959 Nikita Khrushchev, secretary of the Russian Communist Party, delivered the following message before the United Nations in New York: “Your children’s children will live under communism. You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright, but we will keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you will finally wake up and find you already have communism. We will not have to fight you. We will so weaken your economy until you will fall like ripe fruit into our hands.”

Khrushchev concluded, “The democracy will cease to exist when you take from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”

I look forward to the 87,000 new armed IRS agents! Sometimes after paying federal and state income, Social security, Medicare, property, phone, gas, etc, I have money left over and feel so guilty about it.

Look for 99% of new IRS audits to be against the middle class.

That number is too high. Many of the audits will be against poor people as well. It turns out that right now the IRS audits more families receiving the earned income tax credit than it does millionaires. From what I read hundreds of EITC audits happen for each audit of a millionaire.

That's the real goal of the IRS expansion bill - to go after poor and middle class families, particularly in rural areas.

The $600 threashold (sp) for reporting 1099 income will hit millions of taxpayers. This legislation is targeted at gig workers.

Local TV reported anyone selling NFL tickets on TicketMaster had to report sales on 1099’s. Your house cleaner, lawn mower guy, all have to report.

We need an Amendment to allow for recalls of Senators either by the State Legislature or the people.

There are a lot of small businessmen who are worth in excess of $1M... on paper. But 1 audit can end that.

I think the audits will skew heavily toward a certain party affiliation.

“SOME” is not a technical term. It can mean between 1% and 99%. Look for 99% of new IRS audits to be against the middle class.

Of course the IRS will audit the middle class--that's where the money is. They claim no one making less than $400,000 will be audited, but they will audit returns reporting $390,000 income, find $40,000 in unreported income and then claim the person made $430,000 so he's a legitimate target.

Taxpayers making in excess of $400,000 have their returns prepared by lawyers and CPA's who make fewer mistakes than the average Joe preparing his own return, so of course the IRS isn't going to waste their time on an almost perfect tax return. Just like they've done for the last 60 years.

Biden and team are saying no one with an income less than
$400k will have a tax increase. They WILL pay more taxes because they WILL be audited. IRS audits are exercises in bleeding stones.
