Kansas Overwhelmingly Votes to Uphold Abortion ‘Rights’
Breitbart ^ | August 2, 2022 | Paul Bois

The pro-life movement suffered a defeat in Kansas on Tuesday when the state overwhelmingly voted to uphold abortion “rights.”

The vote in Kansas on Tuesday centered on whether or not the state would remove abortion rights protections in the State Constitution, potentially paving the way for “state lawmakers to pass far-reaching abortion restrictions, or even to pursue a ban,” according to the New York Times.

With 76 percent reporting, the “No” votes to keep abortion rights in place beat the “Yes” votes by double digits – 62.2 percent versus 37.7 percent as of this writing. Both NBC News and the New York Times have projected “No” as the referendum winner.

Abortion activists and Democrat lawmakers celebrated the victory.

“This is huge: abortion rights were on the ballot for the first time since Roe, and the people of Kansas voted to preserve access,” tweeted Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). “I’m grateful down to my toes for everyone who helped stop this dangerous ballot measure in its tracks.”

What a disgusting piece of incomprehensible wording. Makes my skin crawl. As a college graduate with employed work writing, translating, and for an elected representative preparing pro and con answers for my bosses issue mail, my conclusion is this was deliberately written to create maximum confusion. The organized people who won the vote are the ones who most clearly explained to the voters what vote would achieve what result.

Men severing future financial responsibilities will simply motivate women even more to have abortions, or to support abortion rights politically. Is this man pro abortion or simply confused about cause and effect.

For something like this, they should have been energized.

Wouldn’t we be under God’s judgement, abortion or no?

Trump did turn away a lot of white voters.

Further proof that "White Supremacy" is a myth.

Why blame it on language? Need to demonize something.

I don’t see the pro-life movement energized at all this year. I think many on pro-life people are reeling from the violence this summer.

Its just a perception imo. I just don’t see the messaging directly stated out there.

Most people don’t take the time to read ballot wording. They come to the polls with a yes or no position. Wording doesn’t change that. That being said, if the language was confusing, the marketing should have been tailored to clarify it.

The main problem I have with abortion is the one being aborted (the baby) in no way was in the decision on having sex to begin with. While the ones who made the poor decisions are not the ones reaping the real life consequences of bad choices.

Thus, they don't learn the life lessons of making the bad choices. Thus, over 50% of all abortions are in women who had prior abortions.

If, however, the momma and daddy were the ones being aborted, unplanned pregnancies would be practically non-existent. Another thing that made unplanned pregnancies almost non-existent -- having to raise the babies you make. We know this from history.

During the great depression (before the welfare state) the birth rate went way down because people had to raise whatever babies they made -- and they couldn't afford to raise them. For example, both of my parents were born during the GD -- one in the suburbs and one out in the country on a farm. My father (raised on a farm) had many siblings born during the GD because they were self-sufficient -- the GD hardly impacted them. My mother, however, had no siblings until the GD was over (and after that the men came home from the war) because until then life in the suburbs was hard.

Somehow my grandparents figured out how to not make babies they couldn't raise, neither with a high school degree, nor with welfare buying birth control, and even with that the the only birth control you could buy was condoms (I've read they were about as comfortable as rubbing your hand across a car tire). Then my grandfather went off to the war, came back to a fairly prosperous lifestyle (compared to the GD) and they had more kids. This was played out all over the country, particularly in urban areas and the suburbs where the GD made life miserable.

That's the power of the natural consequences of life leading to more personal responsibility. Abortion takes that away.

White Democrats in Kansas want the brown people to keep killing their kids in the womb.

I guess it’s less effort than the racist pogroms they used to carry out every so often.

It’s a Bellwether

If we lost 51%-49%, then ok maybe, just maybe the other side did a better job of getting their people out or maybe the ballot wasn’t worded correctly and we can chalk it up as just a fluke and try better next time.

But c’mon, it went down 65%-35%. That’s a slaughter.

Sad to say, if there was a similar election in the other 49 states, probably at least 45 of the would have had similar results to Kansas.

While the violence is high, it’s much less than the spring and summer of 2020.

I think the prolife movement took their victory lap after Roe was overturned, forgetting the hard work was ahead. They peaked too soon.

if they ever discover a test that will tell you if your baby in the womb is gay, the queers will be completely pro life.

No they won't. First off, any researcher who develops the rest will be cut off from grants, the FDA will not approve it, and performing the test will be made a hate crime.

I agree. Kansas is going to get hit with God’s judgement. Similar to what is happening to California.

Your quoted figure of less than 1% abortions for birth defect, rape, life of mother is wrong. Eptopic preganancies are from 1 to 2% of life threatening events. This does not even cover all the other reasonable needs for abortion. The link below gives details of many specific kinds of problems. I looked for statistics on various reasons for abortion. I did not find any specific lists, but from what I saw, I think your abortion statistics are for the world, not the US.
