This Kansas result is honestly consistent with my long-standing gut feeling on the abortion issue and the Republican party.

I think there are a lot of loyal Republican voters who are such because they want border security, law and order, a strong defense and small government.

I think a LOT of those Republicans, when the issue of abortion came up, would say “oh yeah, I’m pro-life” because that’s their “team’s” position. But a lot of those same people would want abortion to be an option if they got drunk and got some girl in a bar pregnant.

We need to defuse this issue somehow before November. As long as we take the House we can stop the Biden agenda.

The pro-life cause was very active at the grass roots level leading up to tonight's vote. Let's not forget it took 2/3rds of both state houses to get the amendment on the ballot, so Topeka has a heavy majority of pro-life elected officials, reflective of the KS voting public, until tonight.

The pro-aborts absolutely swarmed the state population centers like angry hornets, spreading fear and lies. Yet, I felt we would still win. So bitterly disappointed tonight.

Next step is to get a pro-life governor elected in November and hopefully get rid of the state supreme court judges who discovered a "right" to an abortion in the state constitution. Interesting, how they were the first to see that since the state constitution was written in 1859.

“You cannot strip away a half century old “right” without consequences. My guess is that the Republican wave is barely going to be a trickle.”

The Supreme Court threw the Democrats a lifeline. Most of the swing districts are pro-choice.

Are people still convinced that the abortion issue is some kind of big “winner” for Republicans this year?

I know.

It's sad.

Nah. Can’t blame it on our of state money. Pro-life people were out numbered by pro abortion people in KS.
Simple as that.

I did a deep dive of Congressonal redistricting. The Housr looks like 27 pickups at least. It’s the Senate that is very dicey.

People are pretty stupid. The wording may have confused some.

I wouldn't read too much into it. The question should read, do you support the right to abortion up to late term? Peopke would and answer differently. That's why this should be debated and voted on in the legislature.

Sounds like a ballot amendment was the final say underwriting the decision of the judge.

Unless you folks rearm for another amendment I think the Kansas abortion ban is there to stay.

Why exactly was it during a primary and not the general election?

Looks about right to me.

The Senate looks bad, hopefully we can keep it close.

NO,No No No, you and Alito could not be more wrong. abortion IS NOT a state issue, No more than slavery. A person’s right to live is not subject to the “elected representatives of the people” ala Alito. The courts position overturning Roe as a state issue, completely absolved the SC purpose to exist. If the constitution does not guarantee my right to live, then the constitution be damned. Everyone wants to talk like a legal constitutional scholar, and make yourselves look like fools. Is slavery a states right issue too? Is bearing arms? Well you say the 2nd amendment clearly states, but we just punt when it comes to the right to life cause it’s not in the constitution? Well that’s just brilliant. What good is your precious 2nd amendment when you are dead?. When your state votes you are too old for health care, too physical disabled to be productive, your child is not smart enough to live, you are in jail cause you don’t want your boys pecker cut off and made into a girl like the teacher says it should be? If people want to throw away our very existence by stating something so fundamental as the right to live is subject to a vote and not ordained by God then TO HELL with the stinkin constitution.

Independents turned out to vote on the referendum. They couldn’t vote in the party primaries.

Pro-life “YES” won in a landslide before the Democrats stuffed the ballot boxes!

The legislature selected the date. They may have thought independents would not turn out to vote just for the referendum, since in Kansas they can’t vote in party primaries.
