Less than a week after the entire police department in Kenly, N.C., announced its resignation, citing a “toxic” and “hostile” work environment, elected officials from the town of about 2,000 residents have gone silent on a plan for law enforcement moving forward. The July 20 mass resignation of the department’s police chief, four full-time officers and two town clerks, who are all white, came less than two months after the town hired a new town manager, who is Black, leaving many critics to question whether race was at the core of the department’s sudden collapse.

Kenly’s town attorney, Chip Hewett, told Nexstar’s WNCN, a local television station, that the current situation is unlike anything he has ever witnessed in more than two and a half decades representing cities.
“I’ve seen resignations from politicians and the mayors and the council members. I have seen employees resign,” said Hewett. “I’ve never seen a resignation where it’s an entire department.”
Mayor Hales said another emergency meeting will take place this week, either Wednesday or Thursday — and this one will be open to the public.

Every time I see one of your posts, I ask myself why TF you’re here. You obviously have a very low opinion of freepers and you delight in being “that a-hole” in the forum.
So either you’re getting paid to disrupt...or you simply don’t have a life and negative attention is better than no attention at all. Which ever it is, I feel sorry for you. Life is too effing short to spend your time being a sh!t stirrer.
“Helluva price to pay for being stylish.”
From another source...
“Justine Jones, the new town manager, is a “woke” leftist who is bringing those bad ideas to the community.
Outgoing Chief Gibson said in his resignation letter, “I have put in my 2 weeks notice along with the whole police dept. Sharon Evans and Christy Thomas with the town of Kenly after 21 years of service…The new manager has created an environment I do not feel we can perform our duties and services to the community. I do not know what is next for me. I am letting the lord lead the way. I have loved this community. It has become family and one of my greatest honors to serve.. God bless you all in Kenly…”
“Of note: Justine Jones had sued her previous employer, a city in South Carolina, for “racial discrimination,” after being fired.
She accused the city of “hostile” treatment over the fact she was a black woman.
How the Town of Kenly would hire her after a “nationwide search” is shocking.
She has been in the position since June 2, but clearly, she has made a mark.”
One....why does anybody need a town “manager”? Why not have elected leaders handle the town’s business?
It is popular with smaller cities and towns and city managers tend to try to ‘work their way up’ to bigger and bigger cities (and paychecks). An advantage is, in theory, the city manager is a professional. A big disadvantage is that he or she is rarely local.
A city of 2000 is at the very bottom of the city managers’ barrel. They are going to be able to afford the least experienced or the least hirable.
Oh Noeeeeeeeees. She identifies as black. It is listed first and it is Capitalized. The white part is only listed because one or evil white men raped one or more of her noble black ancestors.
The mass resignation was due to the manager creating a “hostile work environment”.
Her demographic is known for exuding ‘tude.
Well, it is factually true, but intended to mislead.
Also, the token TWOT in charge was fired from previous job — for bad relations. Now, she is targeting the coppers — so they walked. Apparently, vetting potential hires is not important if the color is right.
Maybe more qualified applicants were not hired because of their race so a less qualified applicant could be hired because of their race.
I can not think of a single place run better by a black person. Sorry to say but the usual pattern is one of ruling by corruption and racial vengeance. Coleman You g really got the ball rolling. Since then city after city that has been taken over by black aristocracy is a dysfunctional violent s hole.
Capitalization error fixed. ...
The best predictor of future behavior is.....past behavior.
She’s a toxic progressive SJW. They are now reaping the whirlwind of hiring her.
Ain’t diversity wonderful?
The author of the article is using the woke accepted Black (capital B) and white (lower case W) as racial descriptors.
“The July 20 mass resignation of the departmentâÂÂs police chief, four full-time officers and two town clerks, who are all white, came less than two months after the town hired a new town manager, who is Black, leaving many critics to question whether race was at the core of the departmentâÂÂs sudden collapse.”
Easy enough to ascertain. Find out: 1. Why it took two months for them to resign. 2. What were the Town Manager’s qualifications and other characteristics, other than being “Black.” 3. What were his policies, other than being “Black.” Or, you can just be stupid and ask a question with no clue how to come to a resolution. Cluelessness is often incurable.
Bingo
You have a good eye. BTW - Doodledawg is a liberal troll who has been banned before and I am sure will be banned again.
Figures. I’d rather be white than Black…
The great navel Atlas Shrugged has been demonized and ridiculed out of our culture.
After reading the piece, it doesn’t take a crystal ball to figure out what happened. And there is not a chance in hell every one of these people who resigned is a racist. It had to be pretty bad because all of these people have to go out and find new jobs and that’s not necessarily going to be easy where they’re at.
Where are you from? Unionized police in a tiny town in North Carolina? That's rich!
Hint: most Southerners are rabidly against unions. You know, like me!
