Joe Biden Risks Impeachment if Democrats Lose Both House and Senate
Newsweak ^ | 7/16/22 | Darragh Roche

Democrats could be facing major losses in this year's crucial midterm elections as Republicans aim to take back the House of Representatives and the Senate in November.

If President Joe Biden's party loses control of both chambers, he could end up facing impeachment after several Republicans indicated that GOP majorities would move in that direction.

In January, Republican Senator Ted Cruz said there would be "multiple grounds" for impeaching Biden, while in April, Republican Representative Ken Buck told a virtual meeting that the House Judiciary Committee would "hold the hearings to determine whether impeachment is appropriate. We'll vote on impeachment. And then it will be presented to the full House."

A University of Massachusetts Amherst poll published in May found that 68 percent of Republicans and 66 percent of conservatives wanted Biden to be impeached if Republicans take the House, while 53 percent of Republicans believed a GOP-led House would impeach him.

Articles of impeachment can be passed by a simple majority vote in the House but a president can only be removed by a two-thirds majority vote in the Senate. This has never happened and it appears unlikely Republicans will have the necessary number of seats in 2023.

So you’d rather see an impeachment trial that WON’T SUCCEED (needs 67 votes in the Senate), which might turn Biden into a sympathetic figure to low information voters, instead of just whipping his ass forthrightly in 2024? Good thing you don’t run this party.

BTW, the border problem won’t change under a President Harris.

Your response is the sort of idiocy we see out of some folks on our side who don’t understand how government works.

I think the democrats will do something monumentally evil to avoid the looming catastrophe. I believe this mainly because they already have done in 2020. The wave sweeping toward them is gigantic. They’ll be desperate and up against the wall.

Impeach Biden over that issue and yes, she will have too or get impeached herself.

And you think Nancy Pelosi will fix it?

Face it. The fastest, surest way out of this mess is to let voters suffer through the results of their idiocy, and change it.

Balless Republicans are why we can’t grow the party. The “moderates” do not take Republicans seriously, so they never commit. Our enemies see us as weak. In a two party system Republicans failure to take advantage of the situation shows incompetence, lack of core beliefs in anything and abject cowardice. Sir, you are the fool.

I may be a fool but I’m smarter than to think 67 senators will vote to impeach Biden when half of them are Democrats. If that fails, you’ve just emboldened the Democrats to pull more crap.

yeah even if we pick up the Senate there is no way we get 67 and impeaching Biden (House) and then convicting him (Senate) would get us Kamala and be a gift to fire up lefties

Impeach Biden for dereliction of duty for Afghanistan. Simultaneously, get ready to impeach Kamala for dereliction of duty for the Border. Then the Speaker becomes POTUS.

No one is saying you're wrong, but to Jim's original point. Where are the 67 votes to convict going to come from?

Count them up - you *might* get to 55 if the Republicans have a good election and that's if you:

A) keep all of the Republicans in the same land and

B) win all of the contestable Senate races this fall, which is by no means a certainty.

Getting to 67 is a pipe dream.

I agree.

Libtards always said that if Trump shot someone, we would still support him.

That was projection, of course, and is easily demonstrated when we look at the “vax”. They are the ones that do whatever their dear leaders say, even when it contradicts what they say they believe (my body my choice). We made the decision for ourselves.

To your point, nearly half of congress will simply do what they are told. They will support a child molester if told to do so.

I find this incredibly disturbing... we have a real problem on our hands.

The Republicans should impeach Biden twice in one week (one day in the House, the next in the Senate) to show how childish they were when Trump was in office the first time, and as a preemptive strike against them doing it again.

The only problem with this is it will embarrass Romney and Murkowski .... on second thought let's do this !

Eh forget it. I’m holding out for perhaps a cerebral event or some other such natural occurrence when it comes to President Potato.

We’ve got much more important things to do to put our energy towards, such as HONEST ELECTIONS!!!

“Joe Biden risks impeachment”…
Yeah… sure.

That takes balls, something the GOP lacks (other than a small handful).
