The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) responded on Monday to a much-criticized comment by first lady Jill Biden calling the Latino community “as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio,” saying that the remark was culturally inappropriate.
“We are not tacos,” wrote the NAHJ in a statement criticizing Biden.
“NAHJ encourages Dr. Biden and her speech writing team to take the time in the future to better understand the complexities of our people and communities,” the group added.
Biden made the remark earlier Monday at the 2022 UnidosUS Annual Conference held in Texas, where she spoke on the Hispanic “Quest for Equity.”

NOW Democrats are realizing that you can't bundle all Hispanics into one pigeonhole, and yet they butcher the idea anyway. The "party of the people", all pandering, all the time, when we need real solutions like them not turning the USA into a third world country many Hispanics fled from in the first place!

There is a Spanish-language word for that term that these socialists, beginning with AOC, will never comprehend: ¡Disparate!
I’m sick of the categorizing of people into government-chosen groups. Giving people special privileges, or condemning them as evil, based on specific countries that their ancestry can be traced back to, is unworthy of a “Civilized” country.
American should be the only category.

I am white BUT, there is nothing more sanctimonious, non self aware, entitled, rude, racist and ignorant than a white leftist talking down to other people. They are simply not able to connect in a way that is not perceived as “talking down” to others.
Jill’s speech was written by some RAT nerd who figured that comparing Hispanics and Latinos to tacos was clever and something those people could relate to.
Reminds me of Nazi looking down at that little brown girl beside her and deciding to elbow that kid away from her. But Nanzi loves all the children dontcha know. /sarc

Jill Biden has a 12 WH staff just for her. Twelve, whose full time job serving Jill. That they managed to bungle what should have been a simple, non-contentious, speech really shows how insular and incompetent the staff is. This one speech was a hat-trick of self-inflicted screwups.
1. How many times has it been stated Latinos detest the woke fake word “Latinx”.
2. Comparing people to food items? Why? This is such overt pandering it’s sickening.
3. Mispronouncing, no, butchering the pronunciation of “bodega” or “bodegas”. “Bogidas”, what? Do they not even have bodegas in Delaware or is Jill just just too elite to have ever stepped into one.
White bread calling people tacos. Both sides are ridiculous.
Ha. The US Customs Air Interdiction Unit here in Puerto Rico called themselves “The Flying Mofongo Brothers”.
When you look at all the morons the Brandon administration has hired you begin to understand. I don’t know where he manages to find these people.
