In the hours after Cassidy Hutchinson delivered bombshell testimony to the Jan. 6 committee Tuesday, former President Trump and his allies rushed to attack the former White House staffer.
Hutchinson, who served as an aide to Mark Meadows, said Trump was aware that some of his supporters were armed when he urged them to march to the Capitol. She also testified that Anthony Ornato, then the deputy White House chief of staff, told her the president was so “irate” that the Secret Service would not drive him to the Capitol that he reached for the steering wheel and lunged at an agent.
Trump and his allies have seized on media reports of unnamed Secret Service sources rejecting those statements to paint Hutchinson’s sworn testimony as unreliable. So far, though, none of the people who have disputed Hutchinson’s story have done so under oath.
Now members of the Jan. 6 committee are challenging her critics to follow her lead and testify under penalty of perjury.
“The lies and fabricated stories being told to the partisan Highly Unselect Committee, not only by the phony social climber yesterday, but by many others, are a disgrace to our, in serious decline, Nation,” Trump wrote.
“No cross examination, no real Republicans, no lawyers, NO NOTHING. Fake stories and an all Fake Narrative being produced, with ZERO pushback allowed. WITCH HUNT!”
An anonymous Secret Service official told CNN that Ornato denies telling Hutchinson that Trump grabbed the steering wheel or an agent.
Jody Hunt, a former assistant attorney general under Trump who’s now working as Hutchinson’s legal counsel, called on others with knowledge of her testimony to come forward and testify under oath.
Mick Mulvaney tweeted. “ I know her. I don’t think she is lying.”

Bombshell hearsay testimony? What a joke these people are.
And the leader of the campaign is...Cassidy Hutchinson, aka Cassidy Smollet.
Outrageous claims require verifiable and solid evidence.
Her claims are completely unsupported by everyone else there.

This is an outright lie.
Secret Service agent Bobby Engel — the lead agent in charge that day — publicly stated that the incident did not happen. Tony Ornato, also a senior Secret Service agent, has stated he did not tell Hutchinson any of the things she testified to. Both men have said they would testify before the committee with these facts.
Hutchinson is a liar and has committed perjury. The media knows this and are outright lying as well. Their aiding and abetting here is simply another example of how corrupt our news media have become.
They lie and never get penalized. There is no cross examination. If it was a Republican lying about pelosi it would never go. They would have people arrested.
Is this an example of "yellow journalism?" The "bombshell" was a dud.
There was no opportunity for cross examination. The J6 committee could easily have, but did not even ask the Secret Service about the veracity of the allegations.
There is never an opportunity for the accused to present their side or to cross examine the witnesses. The legality of the J6 committee has been questioned.
The "news" is not fake as much as it is corrupt.
She’s done a fine job of discrediting herself.
