Sen. Susan Collins: Abortion ruling ‘inconsistent’ with what Gorsuch, Kavanaugh told me

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) on Friday said conservative Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch misled her about their views on the importance of Supreme Court precedent during their confirmation proceedings in 2017 and 2018.

Collins, who voted to confirm then-President Trump’s first two conservative nominees to the court despite her support for abortion rights, has said she believed those justices would hold up important precedents such as Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that established a constitutional right to abortion. A court majority that included Kavanaugh and Gorsuch struck down that right on Friday.

“This decision is inconsistent with what Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh said in their testimony and their meetings with me, where they both were insistent on the importance of supporting long-standing precedents that the country has relied upon,” Collins said, explaining her votes for those nominees during the Trump administration.

Collins joined Democrats Friday in denouncing the decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

“The Supreme Court has abandoned a fifty-year precedent at a time that the country is desperate for stability,” she said in a statement. “This ill-considered action will further divide the country at a moment when, more than ever in modern times, we need the Court to show both consistency and restraint.”

Collins argued that “throwing out a precedent overnight that the country has relied upon for half a century is not conservative.”

So we’re supposed to believe that the same SCOTUS that helped Deep State end our republic now gives a tinker’s dam about the unborn?!

I don’t.

Deep State either wants to blackmail prochoice Dems into voting Dem despite everything else, or is setting up an explanation for why Dems will still win in the midterms.

And the SCOTUS is still co-operating with it.

As bad as she is, without her, this would not be happening. She was the vote needed to confirm Kavanaugh.

Good point, I forgot about that. Susan Collins and Ruth Vader Ginsburg helped made this day possible.

Unfortunately, Collins will never be removed from the Senate.

She’s a barnacle.

The warren court pulled abortion out of thin air. There is nothing in the 18 enumerated powers of Congress that allows for murder. That’s what abortion is, murder without due process for the unborn child. It was a violation of the child’s 14th amendment rights to equal protection. The Warren court essentially stripped away those rights just like Dred Scott.

Sen. Susan Collins: Abortion ruling ‘inconsistent’ with what Gorsuch, Kavanaugh told me

So sad! Maybe they "evolved" in their thinking. Isn't that what Leftists say when someone is won over to their own side?

(Just having fun. Of course she's lying about any "inconsistency" as compared with their testimonies in the usual Star Chamber confirmation hearings. They're lawyers. And that wasn't their first rodeo. What do you think are the odds they promised anything specific about how they would rule in specific cases? Hmmmm?)

You got fooled right Susie? That’s what you want us top believe? You didn’t think that Trump would appoint an opponent of Roe? REALLY?
BTW Joe Manchin is saying the same bull shiite lie - the infuriating thing is they have such a low opinion of us that they think we believe them.

They are hoping antifa believes them.

Weren’t Dred Scott, Plessy, and Korematsu legal precedents, until they weren’t?

to make a statement that R/W is “settled law” doesn’t mean I agree with it.

Susan Collins, murdering babies in the womb is not conservative. Your view and understanding of God and the American constitution is seriously deficient. Find and accept Jesus as your savior, Susan. Quickly. You are running out of time.

So now The Court is supposed to be concerned with stability and consistency and restraint? Not a mention of The Constitution. Is Collins worried about re-election?!
