The vote to overturn Roe v. Wade was 5-4. Alito wrote the majority opinion, joined by Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett.
The vote to uphold Mississippi’s abortion restriction was 6-3. Roberts voted with the majority for that outcome, but he said in a separate opinion that he would not have overturned Roe.

“You can’t just increase the birth rate by that much and think there won’t be consequences,” warned Lisa Harris, an abortion provider and professor at the University of Michigan’s medical school.
Bring it on, professor.
“Or Congress.”
That would be problematic. Murder is not a federal law decision, it’s a state issue.
She must mean, the credit.
Amy Howe on the Supreme Court blog says 6-3:

In a 6-3 vote, the court overruled Roe v. Wade, opening the door for states to ban abortion.

We have a winner.
Scotusblog says 5-4, not 6-3.
Are there any other big decisions pending this term?
There are more than a few murder laws on the federal books as well.
Remove abortion as a matter between a woman and her doctor, which this does, and then getting an abortion becomes a commercial transaction. The Commerce Clause gives Congress the power to regulate it.
“Well I would like at least a 98% lifetime rating we are fighting utter Marxists we should NOT be giving an inch!!!”
Out here in The Real World you get anywhere near 70% life time or short term, That’s about as good as it gets. Anything over that is Gravy.
“Roberts would not have overturned Roe or Casey.”
Without going into the rightness or wrongness of abortion, since the Constitution doesn’t say a word about abortion, and since it wasn’t a public issue until the last 50 years, there was no halfway alternative for the court unless it did as it did with Row vs Wade, namely, make a law and not just interpret the constitution. The latter is all the Supreme Court is supposed to do.
Abortion law is the job of legislators.
Roberts didn’t write a dissent like the 3 others- Breyer Sotomayor & Kagan- did.
I don’t disagree that 6-3 is what the case says at the top. My point is that Roberts says “I concur, I disagree.” Which bucket do you put him in? Take your pick.
I’m watching her press conference now, and she
is NOT a happy camper.
When Nancy is not happy...Something good is happening.
Let me assist.
Griswold v Connecticut dealt with contraception.
Lawrence v. Texas struck down laws against gay sex.
Obergfell v. Hodges legalized gay marriage. Loving v. Virginia legalized interracial marriage.
I think they saved the best for last.
I wonder how happy she'll be when she gets the boot in November. Her world is crashing down.
the decision was made the month I was born..
it’s been going on my whole life.
but make no mistake, it’s not over. they will fight for their right to kill babies forever. it’s what evil does.
The Tenth Amendment is there exactly for folks who think like you. Sorry. Your "clause" does not trump an Amendment. The founders wrote an entire Constitution and never meant for the "Commerce Clause" to over rule ANY of it much less almost all of it according to folks like you.
For all of Trump’s negatives (and McConnells), they got the 3 USSC and 200+ federal judges confirmed….
