This is a very cheaply made movie but it does convey the image of America, especially DC, portrayed in the book. I don’t know how many have read the book but a few minutes of this might pique your interest. We are living the prequel. It’s a shame Hollywood didn’t make this back in the 50s. Gary Cooper would have made a great Hank Reardon.

"Gary Cooper would have made a great Hank Reardon."
Didn't he play the lead in Rand's other great novel "The Fountainhead"?

Yes, and IIRC, they used 3 completely different casts. Pretty asinine way of doing it, IMO.

There are several that could use a good accurate remake, this being one of them. So far they’ve done a good job with Dune as I’m patiently waiting for the second part to drop.

Yes, he did. Hollywood writers rewrote “The Fountainhead” in such a manner that Ayn Rand later denounced the movie.

It was 3 parts very good movie part 3 however was not as good as the first 2!
To: irishjuggler
Despite the multiple casts and flawed production problems, I still like them.
It would take some outfit like Amazon Studios to make something even close to the book.

The book was a great read. The movie was only great because of Gary Cooper....

Right,
It was in 3 parts, but the actors changed from part to part. Hank Reardon was great in the first part, then a completely new actor played him in part 3. It made it difficult to watch.
Having said that, I agree about Gary Cooper as Hank Reardon. As good as he would have been in that role, he was horribly cast in the role of Howard Rourk in The Fountainhead. The only similarity of his role to architecture was that he was stiff as a board.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Correct—I have the three disc “Atlas Shrugged Trilogy” DVD set—figured it would get censored out of existence at some point.

The book was much better. But that’s usually the case.

It’s how you do a movie that Hollywood doesn’t want made.
Hollywood can show you homos kissing in 3D, but nothing from Ayn Rand.
To: Rusty0604
Yes, at first I was happy to be learning how to read. It seemed exciting and magical, but then I read this:
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I read every last word of this garbage, and because of this piece of s**t, I am never reading again.

I doubt that Hollywood wants Atlas Shrugged made into a movie.

Would be great to re-do it with a consistent cast but the same faithfulness to the book and message.
And no queer parts!

Yes, he did. Hollywood writers rewrote “The Fountainhead” in such a manner that Ayn Rand later denounced the movie. Actually, Ayn Rand wrote the screenplay herself. She was critical of the film later in her life, but seemed pleased at the time it was made. The director (King Vidor) wanted to cut Roark's long speech at the end, but Jack Warner came to Rand's rescue and it was left in as she wrote it.

I always thought it would make a great mini-series. I think that would be the only way to truly capture the story.
