Fourteen Senate Republicans bucked the National Rifle Association and other Second Amendment advocates on Tuesday to advance bipartisan gun control and school safety legislation.
In a 64-34 vote, the Senate voted to begin debate on an ambitious rewrite of the nation’s firearm laws. Although only a simple majority was needed to take the measure up, 14 Republicans led by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell voted in favor.

I Just knew my Senator, Blunt, would go along with this bertrayal. So glad he’s retiring.........
Can you imagine if the entire Senate were Democrats?
At least these Republicans slowed down this bill. If they can add a tax-credit to people who lost their guns under Red Flags laws that'll be awesome!
Why are you right-wing purists always complaining?

Is there any chance this bill will survive a Supreme Court case?
Politicians think once elected they’re free to do every crazy thing they think up
“This legislation can will be abused to restrict lawful gun purchases, infringe upon the rights of law-abiding Americans, and use federal dollars to fund gun control measures being adopted by state and local politicians,” the NRA said in a statement."
Fixed it.
Same bunch will vote for amnesty plus more.
I would have a lawsuit in waiting on the red flag law.
The red flag part of the law is clearly unconstitutional. I can't wrap my head around how anyone can take someone's rights away when they have committed no crime. I don't know if that would make the entire law unconstitutional.
For what it is worth, I consider every gun control law unconstitutional.
And Amnesty Senators Micro Rubio and John Hoeven.
I honestly don’t get it anymore.
He also stabbed us in the back on the trillion dollar infastructure pork bill. He voted to end the filibuster knowing it would insure passage of the bill.
Surely you grok that the purported/advertised "desired outcome" (identifying or helping problem kids before they descend into acts of mass murder) is not the outcome which The Ruling Class truly desires?
Indeed, I think we can be excused for concluding that actually addressing or fixing any problem is not what Ruling Class members want. Not truly. If only because they need problems to exist, so they can continue to bloviate about "there oughta be a law." Or bloviate that "we must make sure that this never happens again." In short, The Ruling Class needs festering problems so they can, through more and more liberty-eating legislation, pretend to fix them. Upon what else but crisis after (sometimes-fabricated) crisis will they rely for getting (low-info) citizens to vote them back into office?
And, the de facto "slush fund" which all this Federal Spending provides to Democrat Party coffers...? Why, that's just an added bonus.
I think you know this, so I'll leave it there. Cheers.
One of the first things I thought of was would Oz vote for this. I have no doubt in my mind that he would. Oz is just another Pat Spector, Arlen Toomey replacement. They are generic replacement components manufactured to exacting specifications.
Yep.
I am a life member but i am rethinking my involvement with them. This is the last straw.
“..But, isn’t it NRA-supported politicians who are on this list?...”
Yep. A handful of em are A and B-rated by the NRA.
They stabbed the NRA, their so-called GOPe “party”, their states, but worst of all, the innocent American People, right in the back and twisted the knife. It’s called being an outright traitor to your “unwashed constituency” and the country.
NEVER, ever, trust these bassturds to ever do anything in support of America and her People.
They lie, cheat, steal, destroy.....UniParty hacks are what they really are.
“..I am a life member but i am rethinking my involvement with them. This is the last straw....”
Yep. Can’t say as I rightly blame ya one bit. I’m in the same boat. My dad bought me a life membership as a birthday gift waaaaay back when I was a young pup.
Instead, I find myself supporting the GOA a whole lot more these days.
I counted 11 - where did the last 3 come from? Burr, Blount and Portman? Their names weren’t in the article....
“ As an NRA life member, I’m disgusted with their racket.”
As you should be. Wayne LaPierre is/has ruined the NRA. He’s a supreme grifter. He just won re-election with 1 vote against. Disgusting.
The NRA under WLP has become irrelevant.
They are in there. Reading comprehension is your friend.
