Bracing for the end of Roe v. Wade, the White House weighs executive actions

President Joe Biden’s top aides are weighing whether he can or should take a series of executive actions to help women in Republican-controlled states obtain abortions if the Supreme Court eliminates a woman’s right to end her pregnancy, according to senior administration officials.

Some of the ideas under consideration include declaring a national public health emergency, readying the Justice Department to fight any attempt by states to criminalize travel for the purpose of obtaining an abortion, and asserting that Food and Drug Administration regulations granting approval to abortion medications preempt any state bans, the officials said.

FJB is a traitor, pure and simple. That goes for his staff and the majority of the DC Swamp (at least those who've taken the oath of office as government employees).

And as I'd prefer not to be droned while I sleep, I'll leave the rest of the thought to myself...

Abortion is murder in the first degree, that should be included in the courts opinion.

“We’ve *got* to be able to kill unborn children!”

We’ve got to enact red flag laws that prevent pro-aborts from running for office and voting.

Now it’s the full power of the government against human nature and sanity.

Given how presidents govern by executive order, I sometimes wonder why we have a Congress at all. On second thought, I guess we need some organization dedicated to spending like crazy.

There is nothing he can do. The SC decision will be to let states handle their own abortion laws and keep federal influence out of abortion services. Im quite sure executive actions trying to override state law will be found to be unconstitutional and eventually the SC will hand Biden a second loss on the issue.

Biden will be long gone before this makes it to the SC. They know how to play the short game - pass something they know will be struck down while giving them months or years to subvert the system.

The SC moves at a snails pace. Where is Pope Francis? Should he not intervene on this issue?

readying the Justice Department to fight any attempt by states to criminalize travel for the purpose of obtaining an abortion

How is that even enforceable? Is anyone discussing that possibility?

It's absurd. And they also claim some states will make contraception illegal. Sigh.

The “end of Roe v Wade” is being timed for the election.

Lezzos and ballets of bricks need organizing. They need a name that doesn’t emphasize “lives”.

Many states have trigger laws in place. Ten seconds after the ruling is released, they go into effect.

Good luck changing those Joe.

I would prefer the court to say it is a federal position but it is murder so the feds must protect children from abortion.

I think any enforcement of that type of thing would need to be a federal law rather than a state law, sort of like how the Mann Act is used in the case of trafficking a prostitute across state lines.

It is generally recognized by the courts that there is a right to travel across state lines and that one state can't enforce its laws if the offense is committed in another state (particularly if the act is legal in the other state). If that wasn't the case, think about how many million people could've been prosecuted for a weekend in Vegas back when gambling was only legal in Nevada.

BTW, so you don't get me wrong, I hope that when Roe is cancelled later this month, I hope the draft opinion upholds the status of a baby in the womb as a natural person (thus making abortion a homicide across the land).

The pope is not Catholic so expect no action there. Sadly the last Catholic pope was Pope Benedict.

But don’t let that cause you to waver in your faith. The Church hasn’t changed and we’ve had rotten popes before and will have them in the future. The Catholic church is Christ’s Church and will endure.

Stay away from them, stay out of crowds, and carry a weapon. There was already a lot of violence, but progress continues anyway. They can’t stop it. Let THEM get arrested, let THEM get tear-gassed. Roe v Wade will be repealed and there’s nothing they can do about it.
