Former President Barack Obama has made an unusual request to install a massive 2,500 gallon commercial-grade propane tank at his Martha’s Vineyard estate, according to reports.
The cost of installing the large tank and filling it with gas could reportedly cost up to $75,000.
“I paid under $3 a gallon for my last propane delivery in rural N Nevada.”
I agree with your math. However, they mentioned the tank was going to be installed underground.
Permits, contractor and purchasing the tank in Massachusetts is maybe what is running up the cost.
But then again, He is former President Sparklefarts and there is always someone to pick up the tab for ex-presidents and other retired royalty.
I heard a rumour the big guy bought all the Depends inventory at the costco’s in Delaware!
Tank costs are through the roof. Renting is less an option these days as companies want people to buy them. A 2,500 gallon tank could easily cost $75,000.
Will it be buried, or set off above ground? Next to the satellite dish and the burned up F-150?
Maybe he is thinking ahead.
When the oceans rise and engulf his property, he can use that big tank as a flotation device.
> Obama be preppin’. <
Well, I know where I’ll be heading once the sh*t hits the fan. I know the Obamas are welcoming and generous people. So I guess I won’t need to bring anything. Food, fuel, etc. will all be provided.
How are those solar panels and windmills working for you, Oblamo? Oh wait - he doesn’t have them.
It’s about a 6900 sq ft place, probably with 2 or 3 furnaces, a “barn” and garage (mostly likely heated) and a pool. I’m sure somebody from Hawaii prefers the pool water warm, and those things use a huge amount of energy to heat.
The property is on an island, so fuel is trucked in. I don’t think there’s much to see here.
It is a good illustration of the futility of the notion of “absolutely everything will be electric”, though.
We’ve been told that ALL of our energy needs are to come from Wind and Solar. No more fossil fuels. I’m confused
Probably need to pour a concrete slab and it probably needs permits and I imagine all those things are expensive in Martha’s Vineyard. Everything has to be brought by boat too.
“IIRC that also applied to anyone who wants to replace an old,or inefficient, heating system.”
Only applied in the case of significant renovations.
They can't tell people the truth that city gas pipe infrastructure is falling apart. They're terrified of having the bond ratings drop.
Someone tell Hank Hill
A generator that runs on propane is where I would go.
It doesn’t turn to syrup in 6 months
Not to mention that it is rather significant risk. I’m sure that the tank will be above ground, will require special venting (like commercial tanks), and be well-away from any structures.
I had a 500-gal above ground tank adjacent to an out-building with a buried feed line to my house. There was a minimum separation distance to any occupied structure that had to be maintained. If you wanted to go up against a living structure you were limited to smaller upright tanks with a safety manifold interconnect.
“California and other states are blocking natural gas installations in some cities by pretending it’s a “green environmental” thing.”
Some cities in Californis and other states ....
I understand that ref. :)
Wait are WE paying for this Cheater Liar..POS...for the rest of his life??????
I don’t thinking he’ll be able to bury that thing. It’s an island that’s like 2 feet above sea level, and rocky. Probably need the Army Corps of Engineers to do a site survey on something like that.
