Prayers are most definitely continued, Amy, and I believe the call to Chris was God’s answering so many crying out to Him on Jim’s behalf.

Tell him we love him, please.

God bless you all, Amy.

And Thank You, LORD!

I cured the varicose veins 50 years ago, so am writing from memory. I used the information in Adelle Davis’s books Let’s Eat Right to Keep Fit, and the more technical Let’s Get Well. I looked but can’t find them at home for the moment. I have seen them advertised on the internet.

The most significant elements were Vitamins E and C, both essential for healing and forming new tissue. I was 130 lbs. and have taken 400 IU of E for 50 years. Vitamin E relaxes blood vessels which lowers blood pressure and improves circulation. When first taking E I recomment getting 100 IU capsules, taking 1 a day for 4 to 7 days, then 2 a day for 4 to 7 days, etc. up to needed dose. This helps prevent a dangerous drop in blood pressure. A very large man might need more than 400 IU. It also increases life span of red blood vessels, curing my anemia. It softened scar tissue, including a nickle sized smallpox vaccine scar, and a troubling episiotomy scar. After his Colon cancer surgery this March, I urged my brother to add E to his daily supplements. I suggested piercing a capsule and rubbing it on surgery scars. He said that was messy so took it internally. He says his surgery scars have almost disappeared. It might help amputation scars.

My mother had open sores on the inside of her ankles for 6 years, and had her leg veins stripped at age 45. I was determined not to suffer her misery. I also began taking 1 gram of Vitamin C 3 or 4 times a day (I had allergies). For back pain I took (and still do) extra Calcium and Magnesium in the recommended 2 to 1 ratio. That took care of the back pain and debilitating monthly cramps. Other things I took daily and still do, were Pantothenic Acid 250 to 500 mg, a 1 daily low dose Vitamin/Mineral formula, and Vitamin D3 (2000 IU to 5000 IU) depending on season and sun exposure. Over the years I have added other supplements as new symptoms have appeared, I now take supplements morning and evening and at 83 still mow my 70’ by 120’ lawn, pushing a gas mower. Two years ago I stripped the cedar shingles off my porch roof and installed wood underlayment and a metal roof. Had help lifting them to the roof, but did the rest myself. Had a heavy rope tied around my chest and inside the house to a radiator to prevent falling.

For any health issue, Google: name/description of problem and supplements and nutrition to help. I discovered the Covid symptom “loss of taste and smell” was a sign of Zinc deficiency. I now take 50 mg. daily if around potentially Covid ill people. The good Vitamin/Mineral tablets I take morning and evening also supply some Zinc. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the update. Jim must be experiencing so much discomfort but at least they are working to make him feel better.

Hope he knows how Freepers are keeping him in our thoughts and prayers.

Being fiercely independent can be a problem when trying to help a very ill person, The fact my late husband lost a lot of that as his Alzheimers advanced made taking care of him a lot easier. Nevertheless, it seems apparent that sitting day and night in a wheelchair is creating the pressure sores, and he probably does need daily help or daily visits to help him move from chair to bed and back. If his arms are not very strong he will need to start exercise to strenghten them so he can help with the movement process or perhaps even do it himself. I use tin cans or filled plastic milk containers as cheap adjustable weights. I believe there are slings and bars that can be rigged for self movement.

Since I don’t know his age or how much of his legs are gone, I cannot guess his healing potential or how much weight he or a helper need to move around, Diabetes can be helped a lot with appropriate diet and supplements. Please feel free to Private Reply for more detailed thoughts. I wish you, Amy, and family the very best and courage to pass through this most painful time. Don’t be afraid to cry because it is not “manly.” God gave us tears for a reason. I cared for my mother and husband at home because they did not want to die in a hospital. It is not easy.

To heal the gut and enhance immune system factors, drinking on a regular basis one or more of the Probiotic drinks now available in grocery stores should help. Different brands have different mixes of helpful organisms, so I use several brands, Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) had some really good prophylactic and treatment protocols early in the Covid epidemic, so I respect them as a treatment info source,

Dr, Robert Cathcart (Google this) has written a great deal about high dose and intravenous Vitamin C, used to bowel tolerance, When quite sick at home I have used as much as 24 grams Vitamin C divided over 24 hours with no diarrhea. I once helped a woman on a wilderness trip, She had been stung in the neck by 3 yellow jackets and forgotten to bring her bee sting allergy kit, When I arrived to volunteer at the MASH tent, her eyes were swollen shut, she was choking badly, and her body was puffy all over, Since no IV was available, I immediatly crushed 10 grams of Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) tablets mixed in a large glass of water and had her drink it, Within 20 minutes her eyes were open, she had stopped choking, and the swelling on her body was reducing, I stayed with her for eight hours giving her 5 grams an hour. She finally urged me get some sleep as she felt better and knew how to use the Vitamin C. With 50 grams of C over 8 hours, she had no diarrhea, and she hiked out 3 miles the next day. I had gotten this idea from reading about a Dr. Klenner who had saved lives from Rattlesnake and Black Widow Spider bites using as much as 100 grams of Vitamin C. I think Dr. Cathcart may have been inspired by Dr. Klenner. What a shame the modern medical establishment ignores what God has provided for us to use.

Let me know how it works out for your mom. Remember my warning about building the Vitamin E dose gradually because of the blood pressure situation. Feel free to Private Reply me.

Chris can answer better than I can BUT, Jim has MD and he has very little strength in his arms. Chris lives with him and is his caregiver.

Thank you and God Bless you, Chris.

I think whoever had you as a wife was pretty lucky, as it was almost like having a doctor on standby, aside that; you also seem to have a lot of common sense what is rare to find nowadays. Just thought I mention it........
