Jim, you are in my constant prayers my FRiend. My wife had some pretty serious pressure sores. Back in 2005, one got so bad the infection reached her organs. As you know many time pressure sores do not show up until much damage is done, because they usually begin inside the body and work themselves out.
They put her on intravenous gentamicin, which is a very powerful antibiotic. Only in sever cases do they use it on a drip, but with her organs in question they had to take drastic action. It worked, and they were able to get the infection under control so that the surgical flap would work. Bad thing is it wiped out her vestibular function, so now she has to deal with dizziness spells, and had to stop driving, since things bounce now.
All this to say, I can empathize with you in what you are going through. It took her 6 Months to completely heal, and that included a Month at home in an airbed. You know how wonderful those things are to live with. They are great for healing, but not all that great in doing some things.
My continued prayers for you, and your family members. My heart knows you will make it through this mess, and I pray the worst of the trouble is dealing with the medical system, since it is not what it used to be.

I talked to Jim about 30 minutes ago.
He sounded wonderful! His voice was clear and strong.
He is getting his pain meds and antibiotics intravenously. BUT he is eating broth, jello and juices. They are also encouraging him to eat ice chips.
He really wants to go home but they are not ready to release him yet.
We probably talked for at least 20 minutes, but the nurses wanted him to take a nap and rest for a while. He made me promise to call again.
Oh, he sounded just like Jim!
