Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is pushing to allow military vets and ROTC instructors to carry guns on school campuses for classroom defense.
Graham tweeted on June 3, “It is time to mobilize our retired and former service members who are willing to help secure our schools. Our schools are soft targets. They contain our most valuable possession — our children, the future of our country — and must be protected.”

Require full firearms training for anyone who wants to be a teacher (yearly range practice/testing as part of their degree/licensing requirements.) Only those willing to train and effectively use firearms and with out prior criminal history may become teachers.
Think of all those who will not want to become teachers if this were in place. Thus threats from outside AND snide the classroom are addressed.
Let’s go Linda.
Not talking about the reserves. I am talking veterans who’ve spent years in the military.
Someone spending years in the military and still has little or no weapons training/experience, is certainly not the norm or standard.
Over time, most teachers would get lax and treat security doors how they now treat rated fire doors— if they were too “inconvenient” to be kept closed and latched, they would find a way to prop them open or disable them.
Because he's a disingenuous asshole. He says one thing publicly, then sticks the knife in your back. Those same military members he claims he wants to be able to carry, are the same people he will be targeting when he joins Democrats on creating Red Flag Laws. If an 18 year old can enlist in the military, be issued a weapon, and die for their country, but can't own a personal weapon until the age of 21, then maybe the enlistment age needs to be changed to 21, and the voting age returned to 21, as it originally was when I first voted. Democrats and Rinos like Graham will work together to come up with some form of gun control. Don't be fooled by Graham's comments. He's a lying sack of shit.
Many ways.
Join the Air Force or Navy and become an office pinky for one.
Every military recruit is not trained as a rifleman or trained for combat.
I know someone who retired from the Air Force and never touched a loaded weapon in all that time.
.
Btw, where I was we were taught to field strip and reassemble an M16, blindfolded. Same with a 1911 etc. Even during off time, we had all the ammo needed and could practice until the barrels were nearly red hot.
Maybe nowadays they give them dolls to practice with...I dunno.
Great opportunity for lawsuits arising from the use of a fire arm by volunteers. Who is going to pay for litigation costs, and any fine or damage award?? The way the justice system is today, these volunteers would be eaten up by liberal Judges.
That's odd. Regardless of MOS, upon joining the service, they used to have weeks of small arms training/qualifications during basic, AIT and on-going training qualifications etc. I guess nowadays you can join the navy, or air force and forgo any arms training and go straight into a cushy office job.
I guess things have changed quite a bit.
Oh you mean like lawsuits costing *many* millions when dozens of students are shot up?
Thanks for your service.
Were you in the Army or what military branch?
Thanks
Dave
That’s where sensors could come in with a beeping in the front office that doesn’t shut up until the door is secure.
It was the norm when I was in the Air Force and probably still is. I was a Security Policeman so I carried a variety of arms every day with live ammo, and we trained and requalified several times a year. However, there are only a handful of other AFSC’s (MOS) that do so— air crews, armorers, pararescue, Air Combat Controllers, AFOSI. The preponderance of Airmen are either desk jockeys, techies, or grease monkeys that haven’t touched a duty weapon since boot camp. I hope that’s changed.
I guess were all screwed since the cops demonstrated they'll stand around gawking looking cool in their paramilitary garb, while dozens of people are shot up and bleeding out...And now we can't use qualified volunteers because it could make the school/city liable...lol
I know someone who retired from the Air Force and never touched a loaded weapon in all that time.
We were friends of two brothers, who served active duty and then reserves in the Air Force.
Both were Officers and one became a 2 star general and would have been assigned to their academy as a director in case he was called up on active duty.
Neither one of these guys ever shot a gun.
The view of many veterans of an actual conflict. We see the vet tag for anyone that enlisted as a participation award.
Everyone keeps bring up the Navy and Air force...lol.
In the real military everyone was well qualified with small arms and the training continued for the duration of service.
I am guessing the Navy and Air Force are not concerned with such things.
Talk one side then talk the other side and hope no one notices you’re kissing everyone’s cheeks.
It was not the Navy or Air Force.☺
