Does John mean the newly altered 2nd Amendment?

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the "PROPERLY TESTED" people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Like so many other great idears, YUGE pitfalls on just who the deciders are as to "proper". And the deciders of who is and isn't "mental". And how easily will the "proper" and "mental capacity" be changed. Sort of like the definiiton of "vaccine" was changed. Who trusts the assclowns in the current cabal to be honest and trustworthy? You like your gas prices, you can keep your gas prices. To paraphrase the 2nd worst potus ever.

Better idea. Anybody running for any elected office should be fully vetted. A complete background check must be made.

You simply cannot have mental testing as a prerequisite for having guns. It is simply too subjective, and too easily abused. It's a non-starter.

And not to be flip, but this shooter apparently knew exactly how to operate his weapon, so the other criteria Voight discusses wouldn't have helped either.

Properly tested can mean anything....which makes the 2nd amendment meaningless.

These amendments were deliberately very broad....to cover every situation.

You have the right to keep and bear arms....period.

Read it properly and it says I can have it in my car, the barn the house...and bear means on my person.

“We must identify every individual for their credentials for their mental capacity to bear arms. There should be proper qualifications for gun ownership, and proper testing. One should only own a gun if they’re qualified and schooled.”

And who makes that determination?

The arms are protected by the Constitution. The “schools” are not.

It’s so embarrassing when Freepers respond to something they don’t like with inane, knuckle dragging comments. I remember when there were some real thinkers on this site.

In nearly every case the perpetrator was “on the radar”. Yet government is unable to prevent these crazies from committing crimes (assuming that is actually an objective. One must wonder if it is these days).

In the days of the soviet gulags people were committed for being crazy “for opposing the party” because to do so was a sure sign of insanity.

We need common sense gun mental health screening.

Every gun in the country should be required to pass a psych exam and undergo a background check including its social media posting history.

Enough of this, we must stop guns from murdering, raping, robbing and most importantly, disseminating misinformation.

We need to give guns longer prison sentances too.

No more blaming the trigger puller like Alex Baldwin.

Remember , guns murder, not people.

We must start a gun outreachs ,

and a no gun left behind education effort.

Gun reducation camps should be founded immediately !!!

Once guns have been successfully reeducated , we must register guns to vote Democrat only.

When the guns all kneel in solidarity with blm and renounce their systemic racism only then can we can heal as a nation.

This is what regulated means. “Kept in good working order”.

I agree. ALL citizens must be trained in firearms. Make it part of school curriculum.

Then make a rifle and a pistol available to all. Include psychological training in those classes.

I’m onboard with this

All tied back to health care, which for us is apparently now overseen and regulated by the World Health Organization.

Jon is confused. You have the right to bear arms period.end.stop. if you abuse that right by committing a crime then you will be judged in a court of law and punished. Meanwhile the rest of us law abiding citizens will continue to bear arms.

For that to happen there would have to be a law.

Training is no more an answer than more gun free zones. The school in Texas was on lockdown when the shooter entered . We have the means; the rules just need to be followed. What makes people think a total prohibition would be easier to enforce?
