Well, this idea could make me rich.
But if 60 million or so Americans own and operate firearms safely without psychological evaluations, the arguments for evaluations are intellectually dishonest, if not abjectly stupid.
If Biden got a mental evaluation he would be disqualified.
Another point. Guns were banned at the school. The criminal gunman didn’t bother abiding by that ban. More gun laws only hurt law abiding citizens, never the criminals. The reason for the shooting was not because of the gun used, it happened because the school was NOT locked down, and because there weren’t enough armed guards on the school grounds, and no armed teachers to protect the kids.
Jon should take a hard look at these facts, and stop blaming everyone else who weren’t Invovled. The only ones responsible are liberals who fought agaisnt securing schools, arming teachers, and the gunman. Liberals have blood on their handfor the shootings, not gun owners, yet it is liberals that project because thay is all,they have- to blame others for,gheirmown miserable failings.

Only an absolutely insane person would do these terrible things we see, so lets start there. Then after the fact we find out a dozen or more people already knew they were nuts. The parents, schools, other students, councilors and even medical staff. Hell he was even telling people what he was going to do online. There was plenty of time to catch this but nobody bothered. We used to lock these people up in Mental Institutions, now we just leave them on the streets.
I remember when smoking in hospitals was a thing. I got out of surgery, when I was able to walk, and woild smoke in the bathroom to keep it away from folks in the room, then when i felt better woild walk outside for one- nkw you cant even have one anywhere on the grounds.

The US has normalized psychotic thinking. There are people who actually believe that a man can get pregnant and a woman can have a penis, and they aren't considered bizarre or out of the ordinary.

Our problem is not with the legitimate gun purchasers but with the people who use trunk choices because they can’t get them legally or fast enough. Legit buyers go through the process and an effort is made already to determine their capacity. It doesn’t always get all of them identified. So maybe our lawmakers should admit their screwups and change the system to do a better job. And while they are at it, maybe that should be considered to leak over to other things they do.

Exactly- people that are writing things like he did online for everyone to see need to be looked into heavily- just assume they mean what they are saying- the co sequences for getting It wrong are just too severe.
There is this show on ID “Evil Lives Here”. There are stories from actual events where a family had a youngster who displayed violent tendencies at young ages. They violence progressed until the ultimate violence of killing happened.
Many of those stories were about over the years how many of these families sought help and even institutional care for what they knew was going to happen sooner or later with their violent kid. Most of them were denied help.
Some of these parents are to blame who deny their kid is a psycho, but others know it, suffer for it, and are helpless to stop it.
I had to take gun safety to pass hunter license course in California 51 years ago at age 12, not that big of a deal to know basic gun safety as long as gun owning rights not infringed.

And that sums up the problem. The elderly do not want to fix that problem either, because then they have no excuse to call for gun bans
