In yet another tragic mass shooting, Salvador Ramos, 18, slaughtered 19 innocent children and two much-loved teachers at Robb Elementary school, in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday before being killed in a shoot out with a Border Patrol officer and local law enforcement.
It is the second deadliest shooting in US history after the infamous Sandy Hook massacre in 2012 - which saw 26 people killed - and has once again left people asking how someone could commit such a heinous crime.
As the country tries to make sense of the tragedy, stories about Ramos are beginning to emerge from those who knew him best, painting the picture of loner with a propensity for self-harm and violence, who was from an unstable home, including an alleged drug-using mother.
Texas State Senator Roland Gutierrez said in a local television interview that the school shooter was born in North Dakota, but attended high school in Uvalde.
Neighbors and classmates say his behavior spiraled into the bizarre and macabre as he entered his later teenage years, with one friend telling Good Morning America: 'He had scars on his face and someone asked him, 'Are you ok?' and he just said with a smile 'I did it myself, I liked how it looked.'
He began dressing in dark clothes and military boots and used his BB gun to target random people, one local claimed.
There are around 15,000 residents in Uvalde which sits roughly 80 miles west of San Antonio, around an hour's drive from the US-Mexico border.
The would-be mass murderer lived with his grandmother on Hood Street, less than three miles from the Robb Elementary school.
More than one-third of residents in the city live at or barely above the federal poverty line.

Stole Grandma’s money.
agree
I heard on TV that he did not have a drivers license. Maybe it was his grandmother’s truck that he stole after he shot her in the face.
We ,as nation, do not like to force treatment or promote institutionalization any longer. Perhaps we should revisit those solutions. Expecting broken folks to fix themselves is a little far fetched without a stable home life. Some folks sadly can never be fixed.
I’m getting really tired of hearing everyone who shoots up a school was “bullied”.
In my day we were all bullied. You just dealt with it.
Yes. The linked article describes him intermittently staying on a mattress at his grandmother’s house. Mom was a mess who grandmother was in the process of getting evicted over constant drug issues. Mom and shooter apparently long history of constant loud arguing.
Law enfarcement and the Soros DAs won't do a thing about it - but they'll come after YOU like gangbusters if you try to resolve a problem like this little POS.
I think they meant at an elementary school.

Nice analysis, Laz.
Chances we'll see this in the Fact CHEKA Media?
Zero.
“PJ media is reporting that he led law enforcement on an 85 mile, high-speed chase before crashing and entering the school. They couldn’t stop him within 85 miles? WTF?”
Highly probable fakenews.
What I mean is get these people help or commit them. They should not be out free to kill or, as they get older, living on the streets. Fix that problem and short of gange and criminal urban violence, we solve 99% of violent crimes.
I watch videos of high speed chases and think, "forget the spike strips, if it's dangerous enough to risk crashing into people at high speeds, it's time to break out the AR-12s and reduce the vehicle to a smoking wreck". Survival of the driver is far down the list of priorities.
Mount narrower-field claymore mines on the front and back of pursuit vehicles and take the perps down hard.
thank you for letting me know that, I was asking the question in other places and now I took them down.
36 weeks is 8 months which is about how long he worked at the Wendy’s. And we don’t know if the truck is his (had a cosigner?), a relative’s or stolen.
So the money for the guns was easily from his job. The truck is a maybe, with a little help or other income or savings.

Virginia Tech has both beat in which a student armed with two handguns using 10 round magazines slaughtered 32 students.
But then, those “E-e-v-il A-s-s-ault Rifles are the current culprits, not some ten round handguns.
Oh grow up. What an ignorant statement.
So, where did this poverty stricken kid come up with the money to buy two high dollar firearms?
And again, he telegraphed his moves long before he did the shootings, yet like so many others he was ignored.
I remember a kid like that in school. While young he was OK, but as he grew he became “strange” one day he hanged himself at home.
Mental illness was known to run in his family.
