FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Sources tell WRAL News a proposed new name for Fort Bragg will be announced on Tuesday. (5/24/22)
The Naming Commission is expected to make the announcement at 2 p.m. and answer questions.
Fort Bragg is named for Gen. Braxton Bragg, who served in the Confederate army and owned a plantation where people were enslaved.
Last year, Congress voted to mandate that military installations named after Confederate figures or sympathizers be renamed by 2023.
The other bases that will be renamed include:
Fort Benning, Ga.
Fort Gordon, Ga.
Fort Hood, Texas
Fort A.P. Hill, Va.
Fort Lee, Va.
Fort Pickett, Va.
Fort Polk, La.
Fort Rucker, Ala.

Oddly enough, there is a Fort Lee, NJ. This town has a larger Asian population (42.6%) than White population (39%). It has a median income which is above average for the state of NJ as a whole and has a very low to non-existent violent crime rate.
I doubt the Asian residents are overly concerned about the revisionist history of the town's namesake as they are too busy being successful, getting educated and raising their families in 2-parent homes. They aren't making excuses for their lack of success because they feel "oppressed" by the so-called "white supremacy" reflected in the name of their town.
