xtreme temperatures and ongoing drought could cause the power grid to buckle across vast areas of the country this summer, potentially leading to electricity shortages and blackouts, a US power grid regulator said Wednesday.
NERC, a regulating authority that oversees the health of the nation’s electrical infrastructure, says in its 2022 Summer Reliability Assessment that extreme temperatures and ongoing drought could cause the power grid to buckle. High temperatures, the agency warns, will cause the demand for electricity to rise. Meanwhile, drought conditions will lower the amount of power available to meet that demand.
“Industry prepares its equipment and operators for challenging summer conditions. Persistent, extreme drought and its accompanying weather patterns, however, are out of the ordinary and tend to create extra stresses on electricity supply and demand,” said Mark Olson, NERC’s manager of Reliability Assessments.
On Thursday, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center called for nearly the entire contiguous United States to experience above average temperatures this summer.
The power grid is extremely delicate and electricity supply must always meet electricity demand, experts warn. If not, capacity shortfalls can occur. A shortfall is when there is not enough power being generated to meet demand.
Forced power outages, also known as rolling blackouts, are initiated during these situations – which is what millions of Americans run the risk of seeing this summer – to prevent long term damage to the grid.

Sweltering in your darkened home, your EV out of juice and your kid needs baby food. Biden sure know how to run things.
Our communist masters’ wet dream...
Blackouts,

food shortages,
rampant inflation,
and a war...
Life is good for the devil’s disciples amongst us...
Plus you can’t get gas for your other car or your generator. Way to go, Burden!
Sounds like North Korea.
Quick, everyone buy a electric car
“There’s a Texas governor election this November. Any wide-spread power outages this summer would not be taken kindly by Texas voters.”

Which reminds me… why the hell has TEXAS been stupid enough to participate in this MASSIVE WIND BOONDOGGLE? Stop subsidizing this INSANITY.
Gang Green has itself a good chuckle.
Yeah, that's it, the drought. Hydro produces 6.3% of the electricity in the United States. "Fossil" fuels, 60.8%. The Biden administration declared war on the latter on his first day in office.
A headline that could have been written about any summer since air conditioning was invented.
Blackouts possible this summer due to heat and extreme weather, officials warn
Isn’t that true most years?
NOAA is lying scum.
However, I know it Texas there is a concern because the population is way up without new power plants.
I was in.midtown Manhattan on the 40th anniversary of that black out when on that day a underground ConEd cable blew midtown was dark for 8+ hours in the heat of July. I was on the 25th floor in a suite overlooking the park fortunately I had a balcony to get some breeze. The water system stopped working after the pumps failed so for the full time in the heat there was no running water. 25 flights of stairs are a good workout even going down.legs were Jello by the ground floor. Then the subway was down and all the traffic signals too it was gridlock. Uber surge priced to hundreds of bucks to get to Soho or Harlem which still had power. We just walked the 2.5 miles in the heat to Soho later that night when the power came back the subway was still down it takes hours to reset the DC grid apparently. I realised that NYC is a death trap without electricity. No water no transportation, people.trapped in the lifts in 100 degree heat without water. Surprisingly no one died trapped for hours in lifts with no hydration we could hear people yelling in the shafts from the top floor NYFD had to repel down to them and do a rescue. I never get on a high rise lift now without at least a liter of water. That week was also Manhattanhinge where the sun lines up across town streets and sets directly inline with the buildings it’s a twice per year astronomical phenomenon impressive to see live.
I’ve already experienced two rolling brown outs already in my neighborhood 😬
Extreme temperatures...
Rolling power outages...
Saw this coming too.
Bought EchoFlow Delta units. Bought solar panels.
Power outages, no big deal anymore.
Go _ yourselves.

The last time they made this prediction it SNOWED in Vegas and Bullhead City!!!
deliberate all of it
