Maybe they’ll have an anorexic trans on the cover next year. So many boundaries to cross, so many ceilings to shatter. What fun.
To: frogjerk
Peterson’s critique was not against the woman herself - it was against corrupt, controlled media trying to use the power of propaganda to re-define what “beauty” is.
it is exactly they have been doing for the last few decades on EVERY aspect of society.

Over the years there has been a concerted effort to normalize morbid obesity. This is just a part of that effort. Not long ago there were several articles going around that said that the obsession with dieting, exercise, and good health were “racist”.
Oriental women are usually quite thin, so that is why I suspect they put a fat Oriental woman on their cover to convince these women to fatten up so they won’t be considered “racist”.

What utter nonsense! Jordan is correct, obesity and especially exogenous obesity is not pretty or healthy and will disfigure them as they age.

Hey, to each his own. The main takeaway from this is that conservatives are scorched for having ANY opinion, while leftists can be as vile as they please.

She doesn't have a double chin, so if everything below the boobs was cropped out... it wouldn't be as bad.

(He [Peterson] has also suffered from depression and crippling anxiety -- no doubt exacerbated by his frequent forays into contentious debates on the most hot-button issues of our time.) Stopped reading right there. When a writer deploys the snark tactic to denigrate their opponent, they’ve already lost the argument.

Like most people that knee-jerk against Peterson, the writer isn’t understanding what he is saying.

I guess SI can put anyone they want on their cover. Doesn’t mean everybody has to agree on what is attractive.
To: Kaslin
His protests notwithstanding, there is plenty of evidence that historical “notions of beauty” included plumper, more rounded women, and that men have found such women very attractive indeed.Who cares what people liked "historically"? This is now, and fat women are not attractive. Reubens-styled women are not attractive by today's standards. These leftists don't want us to ogle attractive women, but they want to force us to look at fat women.
And the author is in idiot to think that "voluptuous" means "fat".

She passed “voluptuous” at least 100lbs ago. She is deep in the realm of morbidly obese and unhealthy. A century ago she would have been the fat woman exhibit at the circus, not a magazine cover model. Our society has too many people like this today and we need to stop excusing and glorifying it and fix the problem. It is literally killing people.
