Former President Carter is taking the rare step of weighing in on judicial proceedings, saying that an appeals court is misinterpreting a conservation law he signed.
On Monday, Carter filed a briefing chastising a ruling that upheld a Trump-era decision to build a road through a national wildlife refuge in order to enable medical evacuations nearby.

IOW, they ain’t as smart as jimmuh.
He didn’t write the law.
“I signed the paper. But I did not write the law itself.” — Bob Marley
Unlike Democrats today where the excuses flow almost before the screwup happens Jimmah Cahtah waited roughly 40 years.
I remember Jimmy and his patented s#$% eating grin. Disastrous President! Not quite as bad as Obama, and not nearly as bad as President Brandon, though.
Carter filed a briefing [sic] chastising...to build a road through a national wildlife refuge in order to enable medical evacuations nearby.
boy’s on top of things.
I cannot stomach that man.
But P. J. O’Rourke makes me laugh in thinking of this man:
“Jimmy Carter had a grin like a raccoon eating fish guts out of a wire brush!”
The taxpayers could hire a corrupt crony contractor to keep some Ukrainian helicopter pilots on call to do the evacuations. The horrendous expense would be worth it to safe a wildlife refuge area and the big guy can get his 10%.
This from a guy who wanted Georgia to bulldoze Deep Deen park and turn Ponce de Leon Ave. into what we called the ex-prezway. Hypocrite.
Carter is a moron and/or a liar (what else is new)
You don’t write commentary on a law INTO the law.
No - the clause was added because without it it would be a taking by the federal government and, hence, unconstitutional.
Carter is trying to have it both ways.
Only because there were enough sane people to keep him from commiting Brandon sized disasters.
I remember such a case in Alaska where the only other airfield was many, many, miles away. It was years ago but this could be the same case.
Well I’ll be danged, Sorry Jimmuh, but you dead Boy. Close yer eyes! You limped outta orifice in 1980 - 42 years ago!
Ah, yes.
King Cove to Cold Bay airport gravel road. Proof that white liberals think birds are more important than Native (human) lives.
Oddly, the bulk of the road now exists, from both ends.
Alaska public media has plenty of videos should you care to learn more.
Only the good die young.
Maybe Jimmy woke up because inflation is coming back.
After all, it’s HIS turf.
It is insane isn’t it?
A remote community accessible only by water or light aircraft seeks a land connection so if someone needs a medical evac and the weather is bad there is another way to get to them to the hospital. But that’s not a good enough reason for the enviros because it might cause a porcupine some disruption having to move 100’ out of the way.
Thanks for the information.
